Three British tourists in Hua Hin have tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19, Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Sathien Charoenruen said on Friday (Dec 24).

The tourists were from two different groups to travel to Thailand.

Both groups arrived in Thailand via the Phuket Sandbox on Nov 26 and Dec 3, respectively.

About as much proof as needed. Its time for the government to officially announce Omicron is already in the community and spreading rapidly instead of playing the blame game constantly.

The duty of Public Health is to be transparent and communicate effectively.

Yes it is in the wild and has been no doubt with that.  I am pretty sure it did not just come in with tourists and was not spread around Thailand by them.  One has to understand that this variant spreads rapidly and many have only cold like symptoms for which they more than likely are not getting tested for, after all it is an upper respiratory tract virus and not much different than what people have experienced before.

The US understands this, and even though cases are expanding there they have undone the travel ban from the SA countries that the rest of the world has banned travel from as well.

Cambodia did the same (lifted the ban).
