RIP Ubon Joe - ASEAN NOW visa expert

Along the above lines, someone once asked what are the various advantages/disadvantages to extension via retirement vs. via marriage.

I said that for marriage, the main advantage is 400K in the bank vs. 800K in the bank for retirement.

The main disadvantage: You have to be married.

To which UbonJoe came in and said that HIS marriage was certainly no disadvantage. But I did get a lot of humorous-type likes to my post.

Selamet jalan to him.

R I P Joe.

Thank you for all of your help over the years.

Gone, but not forgotten!

The human encyclopedia of Thai Immigration's maze of regulations and laws.

RIP, condolences to all his family members.

Answered many of my and others questions.

RIP

Whenever Joe answered your question it so assuring, you just knew it was right. So thankful for all Joe's advice over the years. What a gentleman.

R.I.P Joe....

Very sad news for us on this forum but also of course for his family and friends.

Not much else I can say that hasn't been said by others. I know there are others on the visa forum who are also very knowledgeable. They have a big space to fill.

RIP

It's been a long time since I visited this forum,  this news was really sad to read.
Ubon Joe helped me when I relocated to Thailand back in 2010, and all the visa related questions I always knew I would find the answer in one of his threads.

You will be sorely missed.  RIP.

Spot on - you could say he had a PHd. in the immigration maze that is in LoS.

Was good to see his photo finally - I always imagined him as a rollypoly English pensioner for some reason.

For some unknown reason I had similar image.

Apart from fact he is USA.

Was nice that someone posted his picture.

Geez...how much the visa forum is so not the same without him.

I have lost confidence.

Previously if I posted incorrect advice I knew joe would correct that.

Now bit nervous to post info that might be incorrect.

Thank Joe for all the help you provided .

True comment but to be fair I think many, if not most, expressed their gratitude clearly at the time.

For m me personally it's bit weird.

When folk ask visa questions I sometimes look for threads that can help..

When I stumble on one that has ubonjoe advice ...it's a no brainer .

UJ Has left us a legacy.

Hats off to you, Ubon Joe. ❤️

You helped me and countless others many times with extremely accurate and reliable advice.

You were a lighthouse of knowledge and integrity in this community.

May you have a great and peaceful journey.

What a shock! I just saw the notice of Joe's passing. R.I.P. brother you will surely be missed by all. You are a fellow brother from the USAF. I will miss your guidance here on the forum for sure.

This man has helped me so much, its a tragic that he has died... May god bless his soul for the help he have given us..

I always wondered how he knew so much about the rules and regs here as they seem so convoluted to me. But he had them off pat so to speak.

A very helpful man. Certainly helped me out a few times.

What was the cause of death?

The family has not chosen to make that public, a decision that should be respected. It is clear that he had been ill for some time.

A true legend of the board has been lost. He helped me and others so many times. Deeply saddened and he will be deeply missed. Rest in Peace, dear Joe

Thank you for everything, Joe.

RIP.

Sad news...

He was so patient to all new comers Qs (like mine) which had been addressed 1000 times!

Thank you!

Thankfully there are others to continue his spirit.
