Would You Trust Lazada to Buy Computer?

Featured Replies

I have been trying to buy an All in One desktop computer. Power Buy in both Nakhon Sawan and Phichit only sell laptops, I saw one in IT City I wanted to buy there and then.

The sales girl said I have to wait till "mechanic" in her words comes sometime in the afternoon before I can buy. That sort of service is no use to me, what is the salesgirl there for anyway? I just wonder how that store stays in business.

Apart from going to Bangkok, Lazada has what I want, but I just don't trust their sellers, I know there is a way you can check a sellers background, but This is Thailand and money can buy anything, probably even good reports.

Going by looking through Lazada's AIO's the cheaper ones have no warranty, I would not buy anything like these anyway, but the one's at about 15,000Bt upwards usually have a sellers warranty of two years, the ones I have seen in the shops have a three years warranty in store.

Any advice anyone?

  • Most major producers such as ASUS, ACER and chains such as Advice IT, JIB etc have online shops with Lazada, should be no problems buying from them. Look in the Lazmall for flagship stores.

  • No, would not recommend for such electronic goods. If the item is received not working or broken it becomes very difficult to solve or send back.   Rather try to plan a trip to Zeer rangsit

In général i do not see a problem to purchase mail order from any major retailer for cheap stuff.    But for more costly items,. I would definately feel unconfortable with the delivery courr

invade, Banana, and other big retailers are better than Lazada.

But don't forget that if, say, the SSD or other single component goes tits up, the whole thing is un-useable. As in a laptop of course.

A mini PC, NUC, and separate monitor would be better.

Cheers.

Rather try to plan a trip to Zeer rangsit and select, test and buy one in person.

But for more costly items,. I would definately feel unconfortable with the delivery courrier efficency. Depending on the area, I would not blindly trust the honesty or efficency.

COD could be an alternative and if possible to have it delivered at a pick-up point.

Not to mention that in case of warranty issues, it can be a nightmare to get a refund or replacement, despite many who may argue the opposite.

Thus to keep it safe, I'll may suggest to do it old school. Go to the shop, annoy the salesgirl or guy with my stupid questions for an hour and get your money's worth for the service????.

No, it is not. It is very easy, easier than Amazon.

You do have only 7 days tho.

I have bought 1 new and 2 used laptops from Lazada in the past year. NO issues whatsoever. The last throwaway laptop I bought was Thinkpad X250 which I only paid 2,800 baht. Works great, but it does come with wear and tear and a fake windows 10 copy.

I bought my Lenova 'all in one' from Lazada a few years back. No real problems to date.

'Advice' computers appear to be expanding. Everytime I've been in one, there was a 'tech' guy present in addition to the sales staff. They do on-line sales too.

The 'mechanic' mentioned would have checked the computer with you to ensure that it is fully operational.

I personally have sales people open and unpack every item with a plug (above 2000 Baht value) to check that it works before I take it out of the store.

As believe I posted elsewhere I bought a BMAX 3 and a 32 inch ViewSonic monitor on Lazada a few months ago to replace an old all in one system and am very happy with the set up.  No noise and a unit that could be put into a large pocket and attached to hotel TV.

banana IT online is great and delivers anywhere in the country. we had 8 monitors delivered last year for my wife's trading station. all 100% quality and new. ordered a printer and some other small stuff from them too.

regarding the comment that a laptop or all-in-one is trash if a component fails. that's not the case in Thailand. they'll fix anything, even a non-replaceable phone or tablet battery. our son trashed his old laptop. burn marks, food inside, a couple keys not working. they cleaned it, replaced the keyboard and the case. looks new.

some repairs aren't allowed or cost too much in US shops. no problems in Thailand. a phone screen replacement is around $30 USD.

one thing i'd worry about with buying tech on Lazada or Shopee is to make sure all components are new. i've seen sellers offering machines with a brand new case and used parts inside.

Yes Go to them 'Advice' a big one preferably, one i went in had 2 technicians working repairing and around 4 sales staff.

Well that's my advise. I would never buy anything on line for that much money.

I went to their shop in FortuneTown in BKK on a weekend a couple months back... The sales staff there were terrible and didn't appear to know their XXXX from their XXXX when it came to computers. I wouldn't go back there...

The one near me will fix a small phone or computer problem for free, like a frozen screen, in 5 mins.

Yes, rely on Lazada's refund process if what you get is not what you order.

That sounds like an in-mall store?, you'll need to find their  Main shop in what ever city you live

You think that your purchase makes the difference between staying in business and bankruptcy?

"...it becomes very difficult to solve or send back".

Huh?  No it doesn't.  What's so difficult about Lazada's return/refund policy for faulty goods?

JiB is a well known computer store all over Thailand, they have their own website here, and you can order online:  Jib website

And they sell on Lazada, and you can even chat with them before purchase;

"i've seen sellers offering machines with a brand new case and used parts inside".

If you've "seen" sellers offering that then you must have seen the description also as that's the only way that you could know from a Laz/Shopee ad.    If they're describing the item as new with used parts inside, the responsibility of whether or not to buy rests with the buyer.

I am not sure who it was but I did take someone's advice and bought a BMAX 3+ a few months ago. I connected it to my existing 55" LED TV via HDMI and I can surely say it's a great little unit.

NOTE: I bought it on Lazada,  fast delivery and no issues.

Op I'm guessing you will need someone to set up for you, so no not Lazada, a shop with customer service to install and answer questions

Why would you avoid Lazada? They have official stores from most large computer companies. If you go to their official store or to LazMall, that should always show manufacturer's warranty that comes with the device. There are also shops like IT City, ChiChang Computer, etc. that have stores in Lazada and provide genuine hardware with all the same warranties as in store. I've received product that was defective (minor visual annoyance) which the shop accepted as a return, opened the new one in store and showed it off in a video to make sure replacement had no issues, before shipping it to me.

So it's not really about Lazada or not Lazada. It's about store you choose on their platform (or any other platform) which either is trustworthy or it's not. So if you know the brand, model, shop price, shop warranty - then the online shops should offer same for same or very similar price. If you get any weird price offers and the full price is totally off, sending from overseas, and shop having only a few or no reviews and named after what keyboard outputs when cat walks over it... then stay away. Especially if it says Brand: OEM or None at the bottom of the description.

I have heard of mixed reports regarding Advice, some good and some bad.

Yes, but would it be wise to spend at least 15,000Bt on a computer from Lazada? How do I know I will not get a second hand upgraded one. I have had bad dealings in the past there and there have been many bad reports about them on this forum.

Buy from a LazMall or other known source.  It is a bad seller - not Lazada - that can be an issue.  Read (several times) and make sure they have a record and sales.  As said most of the major computer stores have sales on Lazada platform.

I bought a Lenova PC from Lazada about a year ago.  It was an indirect ship from the supplier with a 2 year full warranty.  I have had no issues with the PC and quite honestly, wouldn't expect too.
