German tourist’s night out in Pattaya turns into nightmare

In the dim-lit streets of Soi Buakhao, Pattaya, chaos erupted as a German national found himself entangled in a brutal altercation with Go-Go bar thugs in the early hours of yesterday, leaving him nursing injuries to his left ear.

The 46 year old German tourist, Mike Groebiinghoff, accompanied by his Thai girlfriend, innocently sought a parking spot in front of the bar. However, their night took a menacing turn when a group of unruly Go-Go bar brutes callously seized the space, sparking fury in the German tourist. Despite persistent honks from the couple, the staff remained obstinate, refusing to vacate the area.

What ensued was a heated exchange escalating swiftly into a violent confrontation, with Groebiinghoff at the receiving end of the Go-Go ruffians’ fury, aided by additional bar hoodlums. Distraught by the harrowing ordeal, Groebiinghoff wasted no time in seeking police intervention, reported Pattaya Mail.

However, the path to justice hit a snag as initial investigations revealed that crucial CCTV footage from the scene mysteriously vanished, with the bar management citing technical glitches. Undeterred, authorities advised Groebiinghoff to file a formal complaint at the Pattaya City Police Station.

Only if their is law or governance of some sort that requires  the business to have a working CCTV system

Customers or employees?

Was it one to one or one to 10?

Was it another case of Thai bravery?

Then they should also be fined for that lapse, believe it or not.

Two sides to this story, I too am peed off at the way motorcycles block access to many places, particularly in LK Mero area.

If I remember correctly that requirement was introduced in Pattaya about 20 years ago.

HAHAHA or as they say in Thailand 555... German demands parking space and gets pissed off when business doesn't want him to park in front of it... it's his right after all.  Both parties are a wholes...

Lot's of businesses here claim the road in front of them as their property.  The police allow them to do so.

So while they do not own the road they are allowed to act as if it is their property.

Correct, but like many around the City, they fell into disrepair.

Nothing to do with Brits..... why do you bring them into this?

The usual Pattaya shenanigans ...  business owner wiped the CCTV,  Police do nothing,  Thai bar thug scum,

TIT ....    But the German should have left immediately,   you can't win in Thailand as everyone knows.

Close the bar for a month.. that'll learn them.

Cheap shot...

So he sat there honking at a group of gogo bar male staff (Thai men well known for their great love of kicking the crap out of farangs at the slightest excuse) who were determined to stop him parking and then, presumably, he got out of the car to go and argue with them…

Sounds like he got off lightly to me. I’ve seen 3 people shot dead in a side street (Hua Hin) for less.

Not very smart to have it out with a bunch of local thugs, what was he thinking that he's back in

Germany where parking spaces laws are orderly? you need to know when to quit when the

odds are stacked against you...

You don't argue over parking spaces with Thais.

In Thailand, it's prudent to learn which battles to pick, and when to walk away.

Got a ways to go before that happens. Last count I had was Russians 19, Brits 17, and now Germans 2. What, no Aussies here this year?

That is the part where I always think: What did the tourist expect will happen?

That the thugs will go away and apologize that they honked?

Or is another outcome more likely?

Even if the police will do anything and even if any of the thugs will get punished, that story will never be over for him.

From now on, he better doesn't show up in that area again, ever.

And for all those who cry victim blaming: It doesn't matter if legally he was right to use that parking spot. It is just stupid to argue with some people. Walk away!

If the German has spent a fair amont of time in Thailand he should know it would be wise to avoid this confrontation. Naive behaviour by him.

How many injuries can a left ear sustain?

Did the car survive intact?  Mine got a nail driven through a piece of wood & placed under my nearside rear tire.

Thought this was going to be the old not-paying-inflated-bill article. The go-go gorillas are of course demented a-holes, but, especially if that guy knows the lay of the land, what was he thinking? Just move on. Saw one d-head screaming and gesticulating at a Thai lady in Chiang Mai many moons ago over a parking spot, then literally running after her car screaming. I mean, what the actual F! Do you want to get shot?
