The 90-day thing has always been a ball-ache but it is what it is. Thai officialdom is also a bit hit & miss but the deadlines on the 90-day are clear. Thankfully, in a place where it is easy  face-to-face and the IO guys are thoroughly decent chaps.

 

Bottomline: to thrive and enjoy oneself here, one should accept and not resist too mutt as a Westerner would have it. 😋

You make 90 report in person sound like dropping in for a coffee.

Clearly your immigration office is not anything like Bangkok..

Your first 90 day report can not be done online after your visa renewal, even if you have left the country several times. The second and third. So basically only your second and final 90 day can be don't online .

It won't work because it was your first 90 day report after your visa renewal has nothing to do with TM30

Do they still do the 90 day reporting in Bumrumgrad ? I can't remember if it was everyday or timings, but it was something like a few hundred baht for the convenience.

That's just their pretense to make the obvious fee collecting scheme look more legit. TM30 station has their own separate collection counter and it's always busy. If there is ever a heist by a desperate farang pensioner, I suggest to just run out with a bulging drawer from that window under each arm, before getting on the get-away win-scooter. (Movie Idea)

I appreciate that reporting in person is difficult for some, however I would recommend doing so, in due time, if at all possible.

Rule #1 for living in Thailand:

Find out your LOCAL IO POLICY for ANY paperwork.

 

Thanks to a immigration Officer friend ( drinking buddy ) 12 years ago, I have never had paperwork  problems at the border or LOCAL office after he told me to ALWAYS follow Rule #1.

 

I do my own TM-30's after holiday hotel stays as House Master ( a legit hotel does a TM-30 on you if you check in with your PP - some IO will NOT let YOU do a TM-30 ) and crossing the border - LOCAL policy, even returning to same home address - 5 TM-30's this year.

 

TM-47 done up to 5 days early - just to get it done.

 

My IO is 15 minutes away via bike, 7-11 stop on way home for daily junk food so I do a office visit.

 

My LOCAL office is very STRICT on paperwork, BUT, EXTREMELY helpful assisting with any questions / problems.  My longest time at MY LOCAL IO has been 15 minutes - NEVER go on a Monday or Tuesday, I usually go after 13:30 on a Wednesday.

So I applied again on the 24th (yesterday) and today - rejected with same message. 

 

Ok - more than 15 days BUT on the Internet (Google clearly is NOT always your friend) the Immigration Dept said "15 WORKING days before." and 24th December is under 15 working days before 10th January.

 

My 3rd attempt will now be made on the 27th December - wish me luck and hopefully whatever Gods control the TM47 renewals will grant the renewal.

 

Meanwhile - Merry Chrimbo to all my long-suffering readers, those of you not too drunk to make it to the loo in time to avert embarrassment.  Never mind - things dry quickly in this climate. Happy New Year to all in spite of taxation and excessively inflated baht rates!

My last two online 90 days have been rejected despite being accepted for many years without question. My circumstances are exactly the same as when I first used the system and I haven't been out of the country, or even the province. When I asked the IO why, she said that the immigration computer had to be manned at the time as it doesn't store the applications. Being that I made at least a dozen attempts on both occasions, it seems unlikely that this was the case. I'll try again on the next due date, but don't hold out much hope of it working.

Nope, they deal with extensions only for patients and close family.

 

The 90 day reports is for anyone.

Don't count your chickens. For many of us it worked originally, but for some reason, despite circumstances remaining unchanged, our reminders stopped and we started being rejected.

90-day reports are easy for me. When I get a one-year extension on my visa, I pay my immigration office THB 1K, and they mail me the 90-day certificates. I usually get them about a week before the old one expires.

Agree 100%, biggest no brainer going with regards to visas.

Everyone just be aware that if you leave the country or go on a local trip and the hotel registers you that you will have to do another TM30 when you return. Just from my experience, but maybe not everywhere. Also if you have  a Thai person with you just book the hotel in there name so they don’t register you there.

Despite the posts of the "Thai boot lickers", the common knowledge with Thai Immigration is that theywant to shift everybody to use Visa Agents and pat big $$$ for their business with Immigration.
More foreigners are skipping 90 days reports altogether and chose to pay a small fine when they get caught instead of dealing with the Thai Immigration.

Agents only use a very few of the over 90 offices, so your statement is totally untrue.

AFAIK that is correct.

 

However you have to report in person to the IO you normally lose.

 

I have been doing it that way for a long time.

Correct but the receipt format has changed as it now includes your address!  This is CM IO!

Agents are also for those who have their money invested in their home country and have better things to do then F-ing around with Thai IOs and their reporting BS. Not to mention getting near-zero % return on your 800k sitting uselessly in some Thai bank.
