Thai PM confirms Nov 1 reopening, reduced curfew, COE to be replaced with “Thailand Pass”

Unlikely. UK folks will take a quick, cheap flight to the meditteranean where there are less hoops to jump through, the beaches are clean and everything is open. Germans like to drink beer. The Chinese aren't allowed to travel.

So you should be able to get a sunbed. Although if it's on a beach you won't be allowed to drink or smoke. If it's by a pool, the pool will probably be shut.

Have a happy holiday! ????

I have been checking Cyprus out, not that easy, still PCR tests risk of Quarantine,  Masks (fine 300 Euros), did not check insurance requirements, as for coming from Thailand virtually  impossible as on Gray List EEU/Cyprus... also Vac not recognized from Thailand.....

just an hour ago dr Anutin said about pcr test and one night stay at ASQ hotel.

And earlier today report of 27 countries, with more added in January.

Story changes every day

I do wish you would not refer to his dr.. it gives some semblance of credibility to one who sadly is without 555

I wonder when all is said and done and everything opens again, all these long-time alcoholic expats will emerge free of the demon drink and sexual addictions (other than the desperate 7-11 daily takeaway drinkers).  May be quite a few less terminally ill patrons adverse to temptation sporting flitting bellies and fuller bank balances.

That’s just great. I’m waiting for my COE application to be approved right now as we speak. My flight arrives at BKK on November 12. What does this mean for me?

That by the time you have got here, they will have found twenty new ways to shaft you.

And who is going to book a flight with an airline who cancelled flights last year and have not refunded customers

Good point, thanks for reminding me ...

Reduced curfew, still ban of alcohol and no sight of a night out in town with fully open walking streets, bars, restaurants etc.

Do those tools seriously think the beaches and temples are enough to attract tourists.

No thanks.

Spain are getting our money this winter.

PM reasserts Thailand is ready to reopen and revive its tourism scene

By Suwit Rattiwan

Thailand’s prime minister has reasserted the country’s readiness to reopen to foreign visitors, and thanked all parties for their efforts leading up to this point. He also asked foreigners residing in Thailand to help spread the word about the country’s readiness.

Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said there were many details about preparations and collaborations that need to be undertaken by the government sector, private sector and the general public in order for country reopening to be realized on November 1.

Among the measures that will be implemented include those aimed at creating confidence for foreigners looking to come to Thailand, and those aimed at reinforcing the readiness of Thailand in hosting the visitors.

The prime minister said the time that remains until reopening will be used to evaluate the lifting of restrictions imposed on various activities, which will only be made in adherence to public health considerations.

Gen. Prayut said people in many countries want to travel to Thailand, and careful considerations will be made about the criteria to be used for the visitors. He added that criteria adjustments will also be made to account for the global Covid situation.

Gen. Prayut said these efforts mark a small start toward enabling people in many sectors of Thailand to return to their occupations and earn income, and that efforts to attract a higher number of foreign tourists to Thailand will be made with regard to the country’s capacity.

He added the entry measures that will be implemented would also be used to accommodate Thais returning to Thailand, and not just for foreign visitors.

Thailand are living in a dreamworld. If they want people to come here, then they need to open 100% and stop with all their Mickey Mouse rules. Still can't have a glass of wine or a beer together with ones food in a restaurant. What a joke.

The vast majority of international travelers like to visit bars/nightclubs SOME time during their vacation. That doesn't mean their lives revolve around alcohol.

Even if they never intend to visit a bar, why would a tourist want to go to a place where that isn't allowed?  As a tourist, I certainly wouldn't, the whole "vibe" is gone.  Also, the sort of regime that does that sort of thing doesn't bode well for other, seemingly capricious, restrictions appearing at short notice.  Scary.

Prayuth better have a word with this idiot because he is obviously  playing from a different  Hymn sheet

The Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has moved to douse expectations after the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday night by explaining that quarantine will remain for at least one day even for fully vaccinated arrivals from five initially approved countries. He also was adamant that there is no going back to the old model of Thai tourism with crowded pub scenes as his agency plans a shift to a higher quality, higher spending, family orientated sort of tourism in the future.

Hey, is this an April 1 fools joke for November 1.

These clowns can't get the IM online 90 day reporting system working effectively after 3 years.

And they are going to roll out a Thailand Pass solution on November 1.

Pull this one it squeaks 5555

But nice Thai graphics presentation (as usual) on Travel Journey on Thailand Pass.

But where is/was he when the foreigners wanted good vaccines??? Does he ever listen or do something for the foreigners living here??? So why should we help him????

Its going to be interesting to see the requirements needed to complete the 'Thailand Pass'

The 'Thailand Pass' could end up meaning 'Pass Thailand' and holiday elsewhere?

As a visitor to the UK a few weeks back I had to self isolate in a hotel for 6 nights and pay about £160 for the 3 tests post arrival, and you think one night is a problem.

It's not a competition to see who has the worst system

If I do it will be to benefit little people dependent on tourists, the government has done NOTHING to create any goodwill with me.

I'm in Khon Kaen tomorrow. All the farang bars are open and beer is sold.albeit one has to drink out of a ceramic mug) . Please come and have a beer with me Mr Prayut and see how well your rules work!

Good for you and don't get it wrong. KK is a nice city and I've been there several times visiting Thai friends.

But I doubt a lot of tourists will go there on purpose. For them the situation in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Chiang Mai is important. As long as there's no alcohol, no nightlife, curfew etc. Who will come to visit Thailand?

"as his agency plans a shift to a higher quality, higher spending, family orientated sort of tourism in the future."

he should ask Las Vegas how that worked out for them...

No quarantine, no COE, no Thailand Pass, no testing on arrival, no selected hotels, no selected countries.  No, no, no.   And, a final no.  No tourists will be showing up in any numbers until there's just one requirement: fully-vaccinated.
