Man banned from all-you-can-eat BBQ for eating too much ....

Mr Kang was banned after seafood and pig trotter binges (file photo)

A Chinese food live-streamer says he has been blacklisted from a grill buffet restaurant for eating too much.

The man, known only as Mr Kang, told Hunan TV that he was banned from the Handadi Seafood BBQ Buffet in Changsha city after a series of binges.

He ate 1.5kg of pork trotters during his first visit and 3.5kg to 4kg of prawns on another visit, he said.

Mr Kang said the restaurant is "discriminatory" against people who can eat a lot.

"I can eat a lot - is that a fault?" he said, adding that he didn't waste any of the food.

But the restaurant owner told the same reporter that Mr Kang was putting him out of pocket.

"Every time he comes here, I lose a few hundred yuan," he said.

"Even when he drinks soy milk, he can drink 20 or 30 bottles. When he eats the pork trotters, he consumes the whole tray of them. And for prawns, usually people use tongs to pick them up, he uses a tray to take them all."     :cheesy:

I believe the King Power Shrimp buffet has issued an APB (alll points bulletin) for this guy

I've known some Thai ladies who would give him a run for his money at the BBQ.

No its an item someone thought might be of interest to others, that tends to happen on forums. ????

Personally I like buffets and I like to eat a lot at those buffets. And I was never banned.

What is a realistic amount to eat? Personally I think 1kg is already a lot and I would bet that 95% of guest at buffets eat less than that.

Why should an owner accept if someone eats 1.5 up to 4kg?

And please don't tell me eating 3.5 to 4kg of prawns is fun. It must be disgusting to do that.

So who is doing that? Probably just some crazy want to be influencers. And I guess the first thing what they do after that meal is to vomit. That must be real fun.

Wouldn't it be nice if all those pathetic want to be influencers would get a real job?

I quite like Sizzlers buffet,  I eat there every few weeks I guess .....  always fresh and the salad with a steak is great.  But as you said ... just eat enough as normal ... otherwise you just make yourself feel uncomfortable and fat.

Many years ago I went to one of those "All you can eat" buffets in Florida (doing the Disney thing).I temember being amazed at just how much food was there ! Really enjoyed it, and I think your average person would fill their plate and may be when done go up once more for something particularly nice etc.

However, these people that just pile their plate to ridiculous amounts are just taking the P*¥s in my book. The quantity mentioned in the OP is just obscene and the owner had every right to stop it.

That amount is not "fair and reasonable" by anyones standards.

I don't eat all that much.

Buffets just aren't worthwhile for me.

The Chinese and buffets never mix well.. a good reason to skip hotel breakfast when they finally return..

I know that an American guy was blocked from the Mantra Sunday buffet (in Pattaya) for eating too much.....

Maybe better not to advertise your buffet as "All you can eat".

Some people will see it as a challenge.

At least it takes our mind off the football mate.

Reminds me of an old Ozzie guy I knew of in Thailand, used to dumpster dive for old socks as well...."Why would anyone throw away perfectly good socks like that ?"

Would clean out the buffet places.

Joy.

In the late 90's I worked with a portly guy that came to work one day bad mouthing the all you can eat buffet near us.  After a few questions it turned out he sat there for several hours grazing on the food and after 4 hours was asked to leave. Now when I see buffet places with a 90 minute time limit, I think of him ????

Tell that to Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas, winner of the Hooters World Wing-Eating Championship with 140 chicken wings!

I used to go to the Sunday Lunch buffet nearly every week at The Londoner in Bangkok many years ago, I'd take one plate of tasty food, eat it and then leave.I don't eat appetisers, cakes or any kind of 'sweet course' and would consider myself completely full after one plate of food.

They asked on more than one occasion if I knew I could go back for more ????

Seems like some folks go crazy in buffets and gorge because it's there. Don't get me wrong, great place to discover food you may not be familiar with. But in my few experiences, it remind me of something out of the movie Caligula.

Wafer thin mint anyone ?

In a lot of Oz shopping Centers --Food court, someone  (usually Chinese food) have as much as you can put on your plate. (once_

I used to have my coffee brake quite near &  were some seriously creative people out there-- Forget the rice, they build a wall (like a corral) as high as possible around the edge of the plate with spring rolls , Sometimes braking some in half so not to lose any area of the plate, when filled its usually all held in place by placing Omelets on top, then the very slow walk / balance back to their table.....

I stopped in a shopping mall and watched young high school age - college age students in Bangkok eating fixed price "All You Can Eat Pizza 4:30 PM -7:00 PM".  They scraped off the topping, ate only that, and had high stacks of crust left over.   I don't know if there was a suitable manager there or just the hourly staff.  I didn't see that particular special again.
