Chonburi – A 33-year-old man completely destroyed his own house after he was unable to get money from an ATM machine with a state welfare card in the Phan Thong district.

 

The Phan Thong Police was notified of the incident at a house in the Nong Tamlueng sub-district over this weekend. They arrived at the house where the house owner had locked himself inside. Police took more than one hour to talk with the house owner, Mr. Thepphon Yindeesuk, 33, before he agreed to surrender to authorities. Furniture and items inside the house were damaged and destroyed.

 

Local residents nearby told TPN media that Mr. Thepphon was unable to get money from an ATM machine with his state welfare card.

A tantrum..... more expected of a 3 or 4 year old who didn't get a lollipop. 

A man in obvious distress from unemployment, mental health concerns, lack of supports from MH professionals(he refused). Possible self medication.

He reads like a ticking time bomb, so far his anger has reflected on his family property, I dread it being used against a human.

Seems like his mother has been on the receiving end and survived, others may not be so lucky

How do you lock yourself inside a completely destroyed house?  

as usual,  article reads like a 5 yr old wrote it.

I’m not condoning his actions.  But at least he didn’t harm anyone or anything else.  As you see so much on the news of people harming other people. 
 

While the behaviour is reprehensible, it is the cause that concerns me the most. There are very many people out there in serious financial difficulties, a fair few of whom are suffering from mental problems either existing, or brought on by recent events. This government has not been there for its people remotely as much as it should have. The only surprise really is that we are not seeing larger numbers of mental breakdowns. The only good news here is that no one was hurt, which could easily happen as we all know only too well.

Why would the police have any interest in what a man does when alone in his own house?

Are there any laws against smashing your own furniture?

Police should ask her if she ever smacked him as a baby. Like most Thai males, they are indulged from cradle to grave by their mothers/grandmothers.  They turn violent when they don't get their own way.

Sounds about right. Next will be a family member or neighbor.  

He may be charged with public disturbance, yep that'll help his mental health. not.

looks like need 150 bht to refurnish from ATM !!!

I have a suspicion that many of these 'mental issues/anger management problems' are connected to drugs.

There probably aren't any laws against smashing one's own furniture but I suspect police were called because of concerns for other people's wellbeing.After finding that its all a misunderstanding he will probably be free to continue smashing his own stuff.

We don't know what really happened, but yea I agree. The mental support in LOS is appalling.

... and feels that because he's a man he's therefore entitled. 

All joking aside, millions of Thais are out of work due to covid and the govt has don't nothing to support them aside from a couple of thousand baht handouts. Meanwhile the govt helps themselves to the Buffett like any other past Thai Govt, filling their boots.. Mental health issues and suicides are on the rise and unless these clowns reopen the country minus the restrictions, the tourist sector will never ever recover.

It said the mother left the family homeand lives with relatives because of his behaviour, and I am guessing "his home" is the family home.

 

At least he didn't go on a shooting rampage, this time.................
