Bangkok – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-O’Cha urged the public to understand a new way of living safely with the Covid-19 Coronavirus, a government spokesperson stated today, February 7th.

Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said that the Prime Minister had been watchful on the Covid-19 domestic situation in Thailand and ordered all related departments to closely monitor the infection situation after the number of daily infections have reached over ten thousand for three consecutive days.

The Public Health Ministry reminded the public that although the Omicron variant spread quickly, the symptoms were not more severe than the Delta variant as seen in the stable number of deaths and critical patients and that the vast majority of cases were mild or asymptomatic.

Anyone, who after 2 years, didn't get it so far, that Covid is something we have to live with for now will never get it no matter how many time the government will say it...

In other words normality is a long way off.

I read a few times that there is an element of the population that have a high innate immunity from past similar type infections (colds, flu etc) and just won't contract covid no matter what. I hope I'm one of those as I haven't picked it up yet despite not really taking any additional precautions. Then there are also some who didn't get it so far because they radically modified their lifestyle to hide from it. Maybe they will get it when they finally come out from under the doona and barfine their first skinny little bar girl in a couple of years and then she's dripping sweat and panting all over them upstairs in the short time room. Ahh, the good old days are nearly here!

He probably doesn't understand the fear Farang have of taking a covid test that may easily result in being frog marched off to a prison/hospital that'll cost  upwards of nearly two years salary of the average Thai.

Prayuth - catch up with the rest of the world, it's a cold, time to follow the west and put this behind us, we got a lucky break with Omicron why is Thailand still restrcting - there is no new normal just normal, lets get back to it NOW

I totally agree.

As to "why is Thailand still restricting" ? I imagine it is the only way left to keep his unelected leadership, and to stop the populace showing their hatred towards him via mass demonstrations, illegal under the draconian "emergency decree",

Time to get rid of the masks, by the way, if masks work, why don’t they?

Mr P. We can’t learn to live with it if you keep changing the rules. All this flip flopping is on you.

Tell that to the thousands that have been unemployed since you shut their business down...

Have you had your life shut-down.... are you "out -of-pocket" ??

I am inclined to disregard those and put it down to limited testing..... the reality surely must be more like the experience of neighbours....but their numbers too are also surprisingly low and do not show the sharp omicron spike we would expect, and that European countries experienced. I hope it is not yet to arrive.

Rules are for thee and not for me, this must stop. There must also be a  mandate! [If You Want to Wear The Mask Than Wear It, If You Don't, Don't Wear It]. And that goes for Everywhere you go whether by car, bus, flying,, walking, in schools EVERYWHERE. If we must learn to live with Covid this is the only way

What a difference a year can make to an idiot Anutin must be thinking ????

So why the need for a State of Emergency one may ask.

  • Popular Post

Maybe it is time to lift the emergency decree.  But then Prayut loses some of his control.  So what is more important, power or the Thai people.  I think actions speak louder than words and little will change.

  • Popular Post

Not for me.

I've had 2 AZ and 1 Pfizer. That's it, I'm done. Screw this new normal barlucks. It's old normal for me.

So why not just let ‘er rip and be done with it?  Sure there will be deaths, there are deaths now.  They are trying to hold back the tide and sooner or later they are going to have to bite the bullet.  May as well do that now when the virus at large is the weakest so far.

Live with it because we are opening the doors to every tourist under the sun, and blaming them if it all goes pear shaped, and forcing us to lock down every restaurant, bars and entertainment areas.

Piffle to the lot of you.

I have a nephew living with us who has barely been to school during the past year. And there are no plans yet to re-open his school. None. Good way to keep the population dumbed down.

Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida USA has it right. Encourage good hygiene, wash your hands often, use hand sanitizers. Stop imposing fear. Lets get back to work.

What a load of ridiculous double-speak. It is abundantly clear, now around 3-4 months since Omicron took hold globally, that it is objectively much less severe than Delta.

Reading Il giornale I just realized that the top guy at the Italian Ministry of Health is named Roberto Speranza, literally Bob Hope, funny on a couple of levels. Sounds good to me. Let hope be the plan and stumble forward, it will all sort itself out.

I guess everyone already live with C19 last 2 years.

It is not a cold which is a rhinovirus.  Covid is a coronovirus.  Very different beasts.

And from what i read no second opinions allowed, if the first test proves supposedly positive!
