I find a whole pill of Codiphen leaves me feeling woozy in the morning, so I go for a half pill. Curiously, Phenz (even though it's twice the dose) doesn't.
I take one or the other 3 or 4 times a week. I can usually predict when I'm going to have trouble falling asleep.
I've been using them for several months now, with no loss of effectiveness. (Previously I tried more "natural" products such as l-theanine, melatonin, and found them ineffective.)
