Hit and run got me, I'm all broken!

Driving Honda Cb300R back from CM immigration 90 day report Friday morning, open road slowing down for red traffic lights, car rams me from behind.

Next thing I know, police man wheeling  my m/c away, says he's taking it back to the police stn, ambulance man helping me into ambulance.

Bleeding all over.

5 broken ribs, broken collarbone, collapsing lung, too many cuts, bruises, road rash to list.

Without a full face helmet I would be dead.

San Sai government hospital were great, treated immediately, no waiting, latest equipment, doctors really efficient.

Police were great, Ambulance was great, services as fast (if not faster) and efficient as anything I've ever encountered in the UK.

Many X-rays as they're watching for blood and fluids in my body cavities. Never seen a portable X-Ray machine before, latest gear at my bed in the ward.

Couldn't sleep in hospital and asked to go home, after 2 nights they let me come home yesterday.

All strapped up, one leg working, 1 hand sort of working (poor motor control) other hand uninjured but strapped up to stop me pulling my collarbone out of line.

Pills to reduce muscle swelling, bone swelling, 3 types of pain killers, and a little 'suck toy' to keep my lung inflated.

Police, hospital, Government insurance, wife all liaising to recover hospital expenses (6,350bht).

I paid when I left, but will likely get it back, not a big concern for me.

Really surprised I'm not dead!

I hope you're collarbone is broken on the side opposite your favored hand...

That is <deleted>, take care. Hope they catch the ahole who caused it.

Keep up on the pain meds.  Don’t try to tough it out, once pain is high it is hard to bring back down. Been there.
That little lung inflator gizmo works a treat. Do it every hour you are awake.  Gets your lung capacity back to normal sooner and prevents partial collapse.  Hurts like hell sometimes. Busted ribs are the worst.
Any sign of fever, hot foot it back to the ER.  Cavity infections are tough to get rid of and sepsis is too easy.

Glad you survived and get better soon !

That blows, good to hear you lived.

On a side note now you can take the time to get that face off surgery you've always wanted... or was it bionic dong, I can't remember.

just kidding, rest and heal.

Get well soon!

I had a friend brake a collar bone in a motorbike accident. He needed surgery, cost 400,000 baht.

That seems very cheap for 2 nights in hospital with all those injuries.

Good luck!

Sorry for the accident but fortunate as it could have been so much worse.  Nothing I hate more than being first waiting at a red light...I always worry somebody will come barreling through.

I hope you mend quickly.  From my own experience, shoulders take time so patience there.

After an accident this severe you'd be worried about condition of your bike??

to OP - get well soon.

I always stop on the far left with all the other mocy. That is where locals expect us to be and we can get away from the lights first.🤔

He's been updated on the condition of the rider, no mention of the condition of the bike.

A lot of people could help out with the bike, not many can help out with injuries to the rider.

@BritManToo ouch ... speedy recovery.  Early harvest should ease the discomfort.

You and the little lady have any disagreements lately 🤣

How would you know? You haven't been back in decades?

I don't believe this story. Sounds to me like another UK bashing thread.

How about some pics of a crash site or hospital bill?

That's your reply to a valued member.

A little reading comprehension goes a long way.  Not to mention, compassion.

This sounds past tense to me, though I'm not up on the kings/queen English, maybe us Yanks use the adverb/expression differently.

... "I've ever encountered in the UK"

At least you didn't ask for a 'link' 🤣

As long as the best time for people to make those phone calls and reply to all these text messages, yes the best time for that is while driving. I see so many accidents that can only be caused by people not paying attention to driving, too busy.....

I think you'll be doing the next 90 days on line :giggle:

Get better soon mate.

I'm sure the gentleman that made the comment can speak for himself.

Get well soon. My observations are that early mornings are riskier in terms of driving here, people are in a hurry to go somewhere.

Always a motorcyclist's first concern. 🤔 In Thailand after that it is "Where's my wallet"?

Good that you're still in one piece. Get well soon.  I know you love it here but I'm thinking this will sour your taste a little, at least where driving a motorcycle is concerned. I avoid it as much as I can.

Lucky your eyesight was not affected otherwise the font size here would have made you think you were going blind like me

We all know he likes it here better than the UK, for his reasons. You think he would make this accident up? Wanting pics of the accident reminds me of all the rubberneckers back home in the US, who love to see carnage, unless of course it's them.

I'm not sure I give much of a rat's what you're sure of.

I take it there was no CCTV at the traffic lights where you were hit?

Because if there was the police (if they can be bothered) might have a chance of apprehending the cowardly little turd that did this.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.
