Phuket –A Swiss Expat has been charged with bodily and mind harm after he allegedly kicked a female doctor near his rented villa in Thalang.

On Friday (March 1st) Mr. Urs Beat Fehr (Mr. David), 45, presented himself at the Thalang Police Station after being summoned over the legal situation involving the viral incident.

The Thalang Police Deputy Chief Colonel Anukun Nooket told the Phuket Express that David has been charged with bodily and mind harm. He is being accused of allegedly kicking a female doctor, Tandao Jandam, 26, who is a doctor at a private hospital in Phuket.

She had been sitting on the bottom of steps on a public beach leading to his villa when the incident happened.

The steps have since been deemed by Phuket officials public land and encroaching on the beach.

In both scenarios of this situation, I see the swiss guy as totally guilty.

1-  A foreigner living in Thailand, being the first to become agressive and violent over no provocation from the Thai person.

2-  A man who does not have enough compassion in his soul to simply allow a couple of women to peacefully sit on "his" steps facing the beach because they were a bit tired.

If there is a recording of the altercation, and if the guy and his (Thai) wife also abused these girls after the kick, methinks they are going to see some not so comfortable time behind bars, because of the media attention this has generated.

Swiss man’s seaside paradise turns sour as Phuket police press assault charges after doctor’s complaint
by James Morris and Son Nguyen

image.jpeg

Scenes from Thalang Police Station in Phuket on Thursday where Dr Thandao, a doctor at Dublik Hospital, pressed criminal charges against 45-year-old Swiss expat Uli Fehr for assault. (Inset Top) Uli Fehr apologises profusely at a high-profile press conference on Friday. (Inset bottom) Screenshot from the damning video clip. It shows the enraged Swiss man marching purposefully and shouting expletives. He then appears to assault the Thai woman.

Swiss expat Uli Fehr’s assault on Thai doctor Thandao Chandam on Makha Bucha Day incites public outrage in Phuket. The expat now faces a police investigation and a review by provincial authorities. This raises the prospect of legal proceedings, a conviction and possible deportation. That is unless the matter can be resolved amicably between the parties. However, charges are now being pressed.

A Swiss man living in Phuket has had rather a bad week. At length, he may be facing a possible criminal prosecution and ultimately deportation from Thailand. Mr Uli Fehr, also known as David, gave a hurried press conference on Friday apologising unreservedly to a young Thai female doctor. It came after he allegedly physically assaulted the woman on Makha Bucha Day. Evidently, he kicked her in the back as she sat on steps leading from a million baht-a-month seaside residence. A video of the incident, ironically recorded by the accused, has since been released. The public video clip, it appears, corroborates the testimony of the young Thai woman. Certainly, it has also sparked outrage among the public not only in Phuket but across Thailand. The case raises possible concerns about anti-foreigner sentiment.

A middle-aged Swiss man has landed in hot water in Phuket. It comes following a heated altercation with two Thai women on Makha Bucha Day on February 24th. The Swiss national is known in Phuket for links to an admired elephant conservation centre.

Now his sanctuary will be checked up on to. My wife says he rents elephants to collect money?

  • Popular Post

Some of my countrymen are really idiots. Should be stripped from his Swiss Passeport. 🙄

  • Popular Post

I have always questions, as the story is never complete and or investigated... Probably more than a woman sitting on  the stairs and being kicked.. And of course as a foreigner never touch a Thai.. these people are holy and never do the same with foreigners...

He picked on the wrong girl here and is about to be taught a well deserved lesson. No sympathy here

So now where are all of the victim blamers from the previous article about this incident... as it turns out she was on a public beach sitting on public stairs and the swissy and his entitled Thai wife blew a gasket.  I told you that he wouldn't want to show the video...

Yes, it was in this mornings news.Hardly a *sanctuary* more like a money spin to pay his *million baht a month villa* ? Did I read that correctly or is it a mistake ? Whatever, kick him out , and his wife back to Switzerland, the wife wh apparently was very threatening. The steps have been claimed to be public property.

..both he and his g/f assumed the complainant and friend were locals, hence the abuse, when they realised they weren't he feigned he tripped and his foot fell into the complainants back..or so the story goes!

As in the Mikado "let the punishment fit the crime". Sounds like a minor assault i.e. no injuries, followed by a slanging match. Maybe a hefty fine and the Thai equivilent of a good behaviour bond might suffice. Hardly grounds for deportation even though his actions can only be described as entitled and abhorrent.

What about the mind harm?

  • Popular Post

In a Western country it’s a case of assault and would be dealt with in a minor court without much fuss and bother. A fine, suspended sentence maybe. Over and done with.

here it’s a national incident, partly because these days Thailand is ruled by “netizens” and viral videos. If there is a viral video, the bib and various other authorities are on the case. No viral video, not interested.

This guy was a jerk and should pay a price. National incident requiring 24/7 news coverage? Nah, not really.

Good guys in, bad guys out. Maybe they should look in to, how he can afford to live in a million Baht per month villa. I doubt that an elephant sanctuary business is that lucrative!

That's a lot of money to spend on rent - about $AU43,000 a month, over $10000 a week. You're right. An genuine elephant sanctuary is going to give you those returns.

He had his chance early on when he declined to offer an apology and, instead, said he would accept the doctor’s apology. Arrogance at it’s worst.

Mr yodle may get a rent reduction when the steps encrouching public land are removed.

I don't think many of us want him thrown in Jail for a disgusting act of petulance, we think he's an <deleted> and probably should face some consequences.

Good thing karma will take care of this as bragging about your 1m baht a month rent while running an Elephant "sanctuary" is going to put that under extreme investigation, either he's making ridiculous profit through social media content, donations, merchandise, and put very little back in (like every charity in the world with the board of directors taking 6 figures for 1 day a month meeting and doing that on multiple different boards) or it's money laundering somewhere along the lines, large cash-based business taking around 3k a visit means a lot of notes could be cleaned.

If it's the former well a boycott based on his behaviour will shrink the profit, if its the latter then he might have more than an apology to give.

  • Popular Post

Sounds like he picked the wrong Thai to mess with.

A 10k fine would have done it but they've now charged him.?  He's formely booked. Thats a problem.

The nerd may have to pack up his rental wife and head back to Sweeezerlan not far from Jellomany.

Time for him get "get the [expletive] off"... his words. I'd only add "the planet" to the end.
