This man, being smug and full of himself, forgot where he is and that he's a guest in this country that

doesn't tolerate such, 'I'm better than you' type of behaviour towards the locals,

Maybe that will teach him a lesson where ever he will thing to go and retire next...

Exactly that!

  • I think it would be best if this guy spent say nine months in the Bangkok Hilton to learn some humility. Then deport his butt back to his homeland with a lifetime ban on returning

I hope that his Visa will NOT be revoked - not because he is a fellow Swiss, BUT because Switzerland does not want him back...

It sounds like he deserves it but then again I'm not thrilled to hear about expats being deported as a general thing. I would have preferred some kind of plan where this man was forced to humiliate himself publicly in a super dramatic way. Lost face for life. I doubt he would reoffend.

Yeah but they've outlawed public flogging nowadays

Kicking is criminal assault... and you should be deported if you commit a crime when here... period.  They can decide whether to prosecute a crime before deporting, or just deporting... but he should be deported.   This has been so public that I do expect him to be deported, but if he has the money to smooth it over the best as possible - he might only be given a 1 year ban instead of what should happen for crimes which is a lifetime ban... (the only for 1 year would not be mentioned in the press though).   The moral of the story when visiting as a guest in another country (and we are all just guests as all visas including non-immigrant retirement and marriage visas are temporary -- hence non-immigrant) is be on your best behaviour and do not commit crimes while visiting.

As much as his behaviour was despicable, this seems to be excessive. Potentially a life damaged. We are all here at the whim of the locals it appears, and can be subject to their tantrums and bad behaviour.... but beware, react and it could be blown out of proportion.

Apparently he's a real hothead, but he deserves his day in court. If he confesses or if he's convicted, jail then deportation would be more than appropriate.

This man is beyond human - how could a human kick another human who was sitting harmlessly? Let alone a lady.

He thought they were Chinese.

From the other topic:

...the Swiss expat and his wife claimed they mistook the victims for Chinese tourists who had allegedly trespassed earlier.

Lieutenant Colonel Sarupong emphasized that Mr. David’s behavior suggests he may have threatened others, posing a risk to both peace and public safety. Mr. David has denied both the kicking incident, saying he slipped, and the alleged ambulance incident, saying it was false information and not the whole story and planned to defend the issues in court.

Looks like Swiss is on a slippery slope... should have kept his head down and lived a happy life, not bring attention to himself... but then you know what ego's do to people.

At 45 years old, what type of visa would he have?

Elite?

Be careful what you wish for, lest it be used against you the next time.

Who gets to decide what the threshold is for deportation?

I'm not supporting the guy or defending his despicable behavior at all.  Just saying that what gets used against him may be used against any of us who upset the apple cart.

Perhaps an 'Elite'.... he spoiled the image they like to present!

Maybe it should be a lesson for a lot more expats in Thailand, and that includes a few members on this forum, who suffer from their own superiority complex issues, and show the same characteristics in their postings.

Ahh, you've noticed that too. I thought it was just "angry old man's disease".

You are one of those victim blamers I see... we are here as guests... and NO... whims of the locals is just not true... what tantrum and bad behavior did the lady doctor display... the only tantrum and bad behavior was by the swissie and he is rightfully a no longer invited guest... he changed his life... not anyone else.

I am thinking of many other incidents where tourists get the bad end of the stick.

I believe the Swiss guy has a Thai wife, and now she has  to also leave Thailand, or her husband.  A fine, compensation payment, and a warning would have sufficed. (Even a night in the cells, known to be a good attitude correction tool),  I appreciate that as guests here, we need to behave.... but this guy has also become a victim of social media and xenophobia.

totally blown out of all proportion via a disgusting trial by social media, but ultimately he was an idiot for filming himself.

when thais lose face anything can happen.

its worse than kindergarten here at times.

always remember that when dealing with locals, for the most part, you are dealing with overgrown children and extremely fragile egos.

good luck in your future endeavors, David.

You will probably be better off anyway.

That is one of the symptoms, it provides them with the arrogant attitude, so they can avoid their own ignorance.

As he boards the plane to leave I hope someone kicks him in the backside.

Don’t be silly, of course not.

the point being made is that the two of them were involved in the altercation with the doctor. So far action has only been taken against the foreigner.

I very much agree with this.

As I read it the matter has been referred to Immigration by the Police, for a decision on his visa, which has not been cancelled yet . . .

If Immigration do decide to cancel his Visa, good riddance.

I reckon he'll be scurrying to offer a significant amount of compensation to the doctor he assaulted, a donation to the ambulance service he gave the bird to and a big, big wai on national TV....and if he is lucky, he might not get botted out.

Fantastic news. Hopefully hundreds will be at the airport to bid him farewell. He was one of those people who seems to have brought misery with him, everywhere he went. Thailand does not need him, nor want him. Urs David Fehr brings nothing to the table. He is an empty suit. A waste of space. A toxic mass. He will not be missed. He took his life here for granted, mistreated good folks, and now he is paying the price. See ya!

Especially if he bought an elite visa
