We do not serve foreigners

Video clip by Yan Marchal of his attempt to visit Fullmoon Terrace & Bar in Bangkok. In his own words, he was thrown out because they refused to serve foreigners. This is part of a worrying trend in #Thailand this year where a small minority of Thais showed a xenophobic attitude

No problem with that. If you own a business you should be able to decide who are you going to server and who not. I saw some places not letting in Indians. You can as well filter out all foreigners. O

  • By putting this on mainstream social media and letting the rest of the world know what a racist establishment this place is hopefully it will hit their business hard.....

Yeah sure. Filter out black people. Are you going for the most politically incorrect hall of infamy?

I doubt that. Xenophobic Thais will probably flock there thinking it's safer.

This is truly nauseating.

Let them get on with it the word soon gets around, there used to be places "Japanese Only" around Sukhumvit

They just have the balls to express what their thoughts are.

Most Thais will agree, just not voice their opinion openly.

It is transforming more and more into a racist country with so called politicians manipulating the public opinion further.

They prefer the attention being on the foreigner than on the government.

I'm not part of a culture that was hauling black people like an animals across half of the world to use them as slaves. So it's not my half of infamy and I can filter black people out of my business any day.

This guy spoke perfect thai, how did they know he wasn't Thai, I guess by his skin colour.

There are bars in Pattaya with signs up banning muslims, have been for years.

I am reminded of the English bar in Pattaya that put up a sign just before the 1998 World Cup started. It listed no frogs, no krauts, jocks, argies, dagos, yanks, eyeties ... and on and on ending with no thais. All their Thai staff walked off the job and were only persuaded back by removal of said sign and a pay increase.

The pub has bitten the dust because of the covid crisis, at least finished off by it.

Reap what you sow - if they start complaining about lack of customers,

they probably deserve to go out of business

The guy has an agenda, can see that from his Youtube channel. Whilst I applaud some of his point of views, in this case there are two sides of a story. Perhaps Thai services, much like the interstate bus service that was (still is??) banning foreigners, the reason could be simply administrative (tracking people by passport original ID) and unwillingness to be bothered with such paperwork at this time whilst trying to recover a business, but its bad optics and easier to rush to a xenophobic story.

I believe in a free country bar owners should be allowed to serve who they want. Of course wouldn't be allowed in thought crime Britain.

Simple, just do not ever go there again. I don't see what all the fuss is about.  If they don't want your custom  and your money, then fine, don't give it to them.

Scary newspaper headlines triggered a similar anti-foreigner reaction when the first Thais started dying of HiV/AIDS in 1983-86. This was repeated in the late-1990s when the government blamed the economic crash on foreigners and thousands of Thais lost their jobs as factories closed.  Given time, the xenophobia created by Covid-19 will also pass.

How was he 'thrown out'? The sign clearly states that he would not be served- he was refused service, not 'thrown out'. Why even attempt to enter unless he's drumming up publicity for a youtube channel.

People need to stop getting hysterical over this type of thing.

A lot of the trouble of this nature you read about on TVF, is that people living in the big cities, especially Bangkok, think that what they see, experience and hear in that city represents the views in the whole of Thailand.  Understandably, they take that view from their experiences, but we all know that most of  the rest of Thailand doesn't feel like they feel, doesn't act like others in the cities act.  It's almost  a different country out here in the 'sticks'.  and in that, it is no different to many other big cities in other countries.  London is not the UK, Moscow is not Russia, New York is not America.

We should be free to exercise our bigotry, racism and xenophobia, with violence if necessary.

Instead, somehow humanity is evolving into a civilized society where such actions are frowned upon by snowflakes and nanny state-sheeple.

ok ok, I think all but the dumbest of you get my sarcasm there.
Racist bigotry cannot stand, in any form, in any culture, in any country - this is wholly unacceptable.

A business is open to the public, some of you have argued the ‘right not to serve based on race or nationality’ - that’s racist & those of you who suggest such an argument just don’t get it.

Just boycott the whole  sad, ... (please fill in the dots with whatever you can think of), country where such level of racism is tolerated and probably encouraged by the government.

  • Popular Post

This is the country that just let some rich punk boy off scott free for killing a cop, you think the government gives 2 farts about this place not allowing in farangs?

  • Popular Post

They probably just got sick of self entitled foreigners refusing to do the check in/out, not wearing masks etc.

Richard Barrow is in the business of controversy, its helps his social media, if there is a simple explanation for no foreigners, he wont be telling.

People need to raise awareness over exactly this this thing. It’s xenophobia, it’s wrong !

Imagine you travelled somewhere only to be told you can’t enter because you were not Thai? (I know the YouTuber targeted this place) hopefully the negative publicity will encourage a shift in the clumsy attitude, hopefully this is an isolated case.

it’s already bad enough in some areas with double pricing.

exactly ..... if you pay thousands of dollars to set up a business where you are marketing for a specific clientele then you have every right to refuse entry whether they be African, Indian or whoever.

Don't see why folks have to whinge and whoo ha about it .....

reminds me of the baby spitting the dummy out of the pram because he can't go inside.
