Therein lies the problem: EU ORDERS THE UK....God, please, leave now!

  • So Major,May and Pelosi aren’t happy, that’ll do for me. Carry on Boris.

  • This is exactly where Boris Johnson wanted to be at all times - his parliament forced him into deal negotiations that he never wanted. Now he thinks that he has a way out and can blame the EU for it.

Can you give me a 'Yes' or 'No' answer to the question: Are you in favour of the UK government unilaterally breaking the Withdrawal Agreement?

Exactly, and as long as there is any possibility it might benefit the US she would be a fool to approve it before the election.

– What is the Bill actually proposing?

No new checks on goods moving from Northern Ireland to Great Britain to allow for “unfettered access” to the rest of the UK.

Powers for UK ministers to “disapply” rules relating to movement of goods in the absence of a trade deal, including any under the Northern Ireland Protocol of the Withdrawal Agreement.

You think? Without a trade deal the UK will probably have a far more diffcult ride than the EU. Most of the UKs food, medicine and raw materials are imported  (from the EU) and without a trade deal - (and at the moment the UK have a solitary trade deal with Japan i beleive) the cost of all imports will increase - which means higher consumer prices and also UK exports will dip as they too will become less competative. If a deal was never important, why spend so much time trying to get one. Do not beleive Boris's bluster - he is absolutly bricking it and praying that the EU blinks first...which I do not think for one moment they will.

Garbage.  UK stood at 73 billion deficit with EU,UK only has to stand still and its wiped.  The EU cannot  deal on WTO terms, likewise it is very welcome to UK.  Trading can be done without trade deals   period

EU will start blinking in about 2 weeks time..shoring up the barricades for riots over fishing, eire blockaded

Gove is correct on this point. The EU is seeking to divide the UK by partitioning NI from the rest of the UK. Germany should remember how the Berlin Wall affected people on both sides of that wall and the reason for pulling it down. The UK should not be separated from any part of its sovereign territory or its citizens. The only reason for the EU's appalling behaviour is because they are desperate for the UK's money. Well, the UK is no money pit for the EU anymore.

Yes, immediately...

Pity we did not listen to Charles de Gaulle, and did ever join these treacherous British... even a ratification of the British Parliament does not hold 9 months...

What did you think then... the EU would beg on both knees if the British Empire, Rule Brittania, can insist what they want...

The time of the "negotiation" with Birma ( 10 minutes to surrender) or Zanzibar ( 37 minutes war) of event the 1921 Anglo-Irish Treaty is definitely over.

Just a 4 months to go, and then: all British imports into the EU = WTO import duty. Schengen visa, international driver licence + insurances.

The WTO-import duty over British products imported in the EU is a LOT more as the total net contribution of the UK to the EU ever.

1 Jan 2021: REAL money is floating into the EU treasury.... 10% over cars and a lot more industrial goods.

And the real disaster for British farmers is in "meat".

Ouch, watch the pound falling.

From 1 GBP = € 1,12 at 4 Sept till 1,0824 today, 11 Sept.

Just compare this with GBP 289 Billion export and 355 bill import... a 3.5 % over GBP 600 Bill = GBP 21 Bill evaporated... Nearly 3 x the annual UK contribution to the EU .

Exactly. Pelosi is trying to score political points. She will be gone soon and her comment will be as relevant as Obama's back of the queue nonsense.

Pelosi is so old she's regressing back to a child like state. A sad, pathetic figure. Loved by the leftist loons obviously.

Bitter or what?!

It's interesting how the notoriously undemocratic remainers are banking on the historically undemocratic house of lords to overturn this on behalf of the blatently undemocratic EU.

I think a pattern might be emerging.

Thankfully the Tories are adopting the political equivalent of "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough". Marvellous.

Bitter tends to describe the losers. You might want to look a little closer to home Brah xx ????

Not sure how true this is "but Cummings has been seen driving around No10 on an e-scooter wearing a bobble hat , sunglasses, tartan trousers & a t shirt with "no deal" printed across it.

They're not getting any of fish, he shouts as he passes Boris in the corridor

Not a single bleeding mackerel! Boris yells back" ????????????

You raise a very good point. If the EU, as has been mooted I believe, were to start blockading, punitive tariffs or otherwise preventing trade with the UK, then we could hardly be expected to allow free and unfettered passage of goods through the Uk to the Republic of Ireland. I know that there are ferry routes from Ireland to Europe, but i am sure that the vast majority of traffic between continental Europe and the Republic of Ireland comes via the UK "land bridge".

well couldn't find the loophole or the law that is going to be annulled ? It would appear though that having a country controlling the movement of goods in the internal market of another independent country is probably illegal anyway . This is what the WA changes are addressing. If EU took UK to some court or arbitration the UK would win. Do these 'remainers' also believe that having another country controlling our fishing waters is also ok ?.

One must assume so yes. Judging by the various stances taken by the Euro enthusiasts here. Those not from the United Kingdom seem to believe that we should do what we are told by the sclerotic unelected and unaccountable bureaucracy which is the Brussels 'Fonctionaires"; presumably they believe that because their own countries have rolled over, we should too - perhaps, just perhaps, there is some historical precedent with previous attempts to establish European unity?

Our own EU enthusiasts seem to believe the same, along with the conviction that the referendum and all the subsequent elections (four exercises in democracy, using various electoral methods, by my count) should be overturned, because they produced results which did not reflect their enlightened views. So yes, according to them.

So no. As a UK EU enthusiast I - and many others like me - believe that the UK should leave the EU in accordance with the referendum result. All I ask in return is that my government respects its obligations and abides by the rule of law. It appears that this is too much to ask of Johnson and his cronies.

BRINO or FRINO? That is the question.....
