Looking at Udon Thani over the past week the numbers have been 21, 127, 21, 4, and today 142.  Something is fishy with that type of case numbers, but then maybe I am just becoming suspicious about everything these days, especially with seeing how this inept Government now believes 13 provinces should be shut into homes unless necessary to leave.

I certainly don’t think it is out of the question. I look at the UK and what Alpha did to them before they got serious about lockdowns and vaccinations. I’m hoping 30k and 500 but there is nothing to say that you won’t be right. One thing is for sure, for at least 3 months it won’t be 5k and 50 as it previously was.

I live in a deep red zone, the Thai's I talk to, all well educated but not rich, one has lost his job and is in trouble financially. They all looked at India a while back, now they have been looking at Indonesia for a while. They are are all glad that lockdown is imposed. Depends on who you talk to?

Hope im wrong but i think soon there going to be much infections in Korat,Udon and Khon Kaen. Every place have much people and soon same situation than in BKK . Only little smaler scale! Yes Udon numbers has jump up and down all the time dont know why!

The only way to get rid of them is with all the Thai people coming together in such large numbers that they have to flee the country - previous uprisings have been fractious with various factions opposing eachother all wanting power 

 

I see this as different now - there is no longer red and yellow it is just Thai and there are a very large number that are very angry right now from what I am seeing

Every time I predict what will happen the opposite happens, so I predict Prayuth and Anutin will stay in power and nothing will change!You can thank me later!

It’s a good question tbh. The issue is that decisions taken 3 months ago and since then, have painted Thailand into a very very dark corner.

 

I posted a couple of weeks ago that the choices now are almost binary. Total full draconian lockdown for an extended period of time to change the direction of the virus, or, light measures and deal with the outcome. And with the latter be prepared to stomach 500 deaths a day because that will be part of the outcome.

 

I see nothing to change my view.

A valid comparison between UK and Thailand in that their populations are nearly the same (70M Thailand; 68M UK).  The real numbers here in Thailand would likely beggar one's imagination.

If you paid attention to my posts you would see that one of our neighbors in the condo we live in had a housekeeper who came down with covid and our paths crossed in the hallway and stairwell going to the trash receptacle.  We were therefore requested to go be tested by the condo juristic management for which the BMA paid the test cost as part of a track and trace...

As Jonathan Head points out in his tweet, Anutin was saying back in February that Thailand would receive 10m locally produced AZ per month from mid-year till the year end when he had only  ordered 26m doses in total at that point.  He only increased the order to 61m in May which made Thailand's commitment still only 35%.  In February AZ was also telling publicly investors that Indonesia would get priority for the first runs produced in Thailand, due its greater need (at the time) and presumably because it had already ordered 50m doses well before Thailand committed to anything. 

 

So does anyone understand the basis on which Anutin was planning a vaccube rollout expecting 10m AZ per month?  It is really puzzling to me.  It is not believable that he had no idea of the basis on which AZ planned to allocate the deliveries based on country commitments.  So why was he committing to deliver vaccines that he had in effect not ordered?  Did he think it would be easy to just blame AZ for the invetiable shortfall and order more Sinovac?
