Travel operators have reported a surge in bookings from Swedish tourists eager to visit Thailand after the country reopened to international visitors on Nov 1.

According to an article by Swedish news outlet Aftonbladet, the news that Thailand is open to international tourists has been welcomed with open arms by people in Sweden.

Sandra Miller Kinge from the Apollo travel group said that there have been three times as many bookings to Thailand compared to the week previous, adding that there has been great interest in Thailand.

Meanwhile, travel giant Tui revealed there has been a five fold increase in bookings compared to the period before Thailand announced an end to the quarantine requirements.

“The surge in bookings is good news for Thais who earn a living from the tourism industry”, said Adam Györki, communications manager at Tui.

Tui said Swedes were mainly booking trips to Phuket, Khao Lak, Koh Lanta and Krabi.

The report said that now would be a good time to visit as those locations are likely to be quieter than normal.

The report also highlighted the issues faced by those travelling to Thailand with children under the current entry requirements, particularly for those who are under 12 years of age and unvaccinated. The issue concerns the event of the child testing positive for COVID-19 on arrival in Thailand.

Bla Bla Bla....just like the 6 million Brit's that were 'desperate' to get to Thailand.   My Niece works in a Travel Agency in a large British City and says business is brisk now....but none of it is

And now the Taxi drivers are attempting  to price gouge.  2500 from airport to Pattaya.   Do yourself a favor.  Find alternate route.  Don't  let them use you like that.

I'm glad they are no longer <deleted> off about how it became so difficult to overwinter here with new visa classes/restrictions. Last i heard Hua Hin was a ghost town due to their absence.

How does this effect tourism when you have to be vaccinated and tested before traveling and after arriving?

You can be tested negative before travelling and test positive, arriving here.

Fun, isn't it.

Chinese not coming, Russians, Germans, Brits .... with massive surge in cases. If cases in Thailand go up again, who do you think they will blame. Yes, the foreign tourists.

Has nobody told those Swedes that Thermae is still closed????

  • Popular Post

It’s a drop in the ocean. Aftonbladet should quote the amount of Swedes going to, and favouring, Spain and Portugal. Easy travel.

Makes no odds as Thailand requires testing/vaccinated visitors and a twatish insurance to top it off.

  • Popular Post

I hope they remember to tell the tourists on the consequences of getting tested positive on arrival.(Being dragged off to isolation no matter your condition)

Anyone who books a 14 day holiday here now, needs their brain checked.

Thailand’s official numbers will never go high as most will never get tested, due to what happens if you are positive.

So low infection numbers, high death rate and lots of hidden infections walking around.

But they have not removed the need to quarantine. So why keep publicising it .It is fake news.

Ever notice the verbs used in these propaganda pieces? Rush, scramble, run, dash, hurry, scurry are just some of them. I suppose the news clones who compose these stories think that using these words will make their fairy tales more believable..

If I were on the cusp of a Swedish winter I'd be rushing out for tickets to Thailand as well.
