Ah, the insane Qanon theory that COVID is intentional, allowing governments to "control" people...

By asking them to wear masks and get vaccines for their benefit.

Whaaaaat? Totally absurd.

But lots of ignorant, uneducated people believe that. ????

He didn't say Covid was intentional. He said it was a "gift" to the repressors.

There is something in that.

Only one question remains.....Why are they doing this?

There will be a reason, we just don't know what it is yet.

I recognize only one reason:  making money out of the pandemie.

One clue is the overpricing (why was the Sinovac more expensive in Thailand than in the other countries; Prayut rushed back from Bejiing in the early days of the crisis?). The other one is the style how the military leader played a role in the (delayed) ordering vaccines. And especially ordering the Chinese low quality Sinovac, ignoring all advices of the medical experts. Especially the medical experts should have been responsible for giving directions in the medical crisis, not the military slouch/es. Why had the military leadership refused to order the other recommended vaccines like Pfizer etc. ?

Therefore you can guess, there has been money diverted on special (private) bank accounts of the Thai military mafx@.

The same happens now with the overpriced SHA hotels etc. There is no logical reason, why people should pay for at least 1 night -  only for receiving the test results. There are money grabbing hands in the background.

This guy should seriously think about running for PM!  now that he has spoken truth the squeeze will be on the best of luck down the road?

Don't worry, in the coming days he'll be accused of Paedophillia, fraud, etc. and his businesses will be visited by the police who will no doubt find hundreds of violations of non-existent laws.  What's the point in anyone running for PM when the outcome's known before the election?

Finally someone speaking the truth

Nothing new here at all and something most of us knew was going to happen anyway.  Tourists aren't coming until Thailand removes all the barriers to make travel easy to the country.  Opening up the nightlife areas and bars will make a huge positive impact as well.

Maybe they should consider changing New Year's to January 15th this coming year???

Many are waiting why  come when bars clubs restaurants are closed to jan 16.Most are not happy with a PCR rest but accept it.the extra one on 1 day on arrival is also a con if you are dbl jabbed and had a pcr test.Lets hope they see the light and change the rules

You really think every country in the world ruined their economy so a couple of companies can make a few tens of billions? ????

The economic damage is well into the trillions world wide. Forbes put it at $24 Trillion back in February this year so it's far more than that.

Well.......that's not how it works here.

No one freely campaigns as an elected PM, almost are deliberately selected or appointed in the usual manipulated manner by club members.

I know exactly how it works here I knew before I posted my response I should have put a emoji to it otherwise in general people don't it is said in humor.????

Said in humor!  like I told the other poster. I agree but I forgot to add the Emoji!  " The squeeze will be on "  does that ring some type of bell?  that means pretty much all the stuff you just mentioned!

A few years back at MP, got on the Bangkok Post and did an interview he basically said to Thai women if you want a better life marry a foreigner along with the more patriotic the more stupid! There after the guy was squeezed gone out of the picture most likely sitting in a rocking chair?????

This guy will be branded a heretic and fired or demoted.  The few bureaucrats and politicians who speak the obvious are not destined for long and illustrious careers.

How many politicians, if any, are actually in this Thai government led by an unelected soldier posing as a PM?

Take a good look at this Military Academy educated soldier, prancing about the beach like a demented circus midget.

Something strange in all this.
There are no tourists and the hotels are empty due to the Pandemic.
But if you try to find a hotel in Pattaya or Jomtien via Booking.com or Pagoda.com, everything is FULL!!!!

Perhaps many, virtually all even, have placed themselves in suspended animation, temporarily stopped trading. Easier to claim you are full and not taking bookings than to close down and then go through the hassle of relisting if/when you start up again?

Finally someone speaking the truth. I have lots of friends in England ,who would have come for a genuine holiday but  were put off by the all the hassles of the pass system and have planned to go elsewhere for Christmas and the New Year. There are too many clueless people making up different rules and regulations week after week.

That's what happens when you have an unelected goon posing as a PM.

Thanet Supharothatrangsi, chairman of the Chonburi Tourism Business Association, echoed what people online have been saying for weeks if not months.

The gentleman is appealing to the government on behalf of entertainment business owners in Pattaya . He is not in with the in crowd because otherwise he would be using other channels . He must be aware of the government plans to transform mainland Thailand , redevelop Pattaya and to concentrate the entertainment trade to Phuket . He will be at risk , along with others , of losing big money and this statement is his last roll of the dice . The government should at least be compensating businesses for loss of income due to their prohibition laws .

To those who think the government have shot themselves in the foot , I have no doubts that they know exactly what they are doing along with the effects it is having on folks who make a living from the tourist trade . It would be better for all if the Thai government came clean and shared their plans with the nation . However that would drive up the values of closed down business premises . As it stands the values of property in Pattaya must have fallen big time and the vultures are circling .

I don't think that every country in the world has destroyed their economy to allow a few favoured people to make money from the pandemic, no of course not.

I do think that here in Thailand, groups within the " influential" have manipulated the pandemic to make money, with no care for the consequences. These manipulations, in my opinion, include: procurement supply and provision of vaccination, the potentially ( they thought) lucrative  provision of quarantine and insurance, the opportunity to clear away large areas of the existing tourist industry to allow a rebuild in the style they wish to see ( Sihanoukville style casino operations perhaps) together with real estate speculation, the ever present search for new opportunities to "shake down" small business and the ingrained desire of officialdom to boss people around because they can.

These "programmes" are of course often contradictory. That is a result of the almost total self interest driving these groups, who don't pause to consider the effects on their colleagues let alone the rest of the population.

The result of a government placed in, and sustained in, power by a variety of competing influential parties, which neither care about nor are remotely accountable to the people. That accountability has been driven from the country's life in the last two decades.

The result is an utter mess.

@Ukrules; sorry this is a misunderstanding. Maybe I didn't make it clear, that my remark

was related to Thailand. When you read the details of my comment you will recognize it.

At last a voice of truth and reason from someone in authority! Very refreshing!

I want to come back to visit friends but can't be bothered with the bureaucracy currently required.

I think it was more an experiment in people control.

Nobody in his right mind considers Thailand for a vacation as long as other countries offer more-common-sense approaches once it comes to PCRs, CoEs/Thaiand Passes, non-quarantine quarantine massively overpriced while served crappy cold food in plastic containers at equally inflated prices by staff dressed in transparent garbage bags ........

I just heard on Phuket Extra that some bright spark officials are insistig all retaurants and cafes are now to stop serving alcohol 2pm till 5pm ! Hard to comprehend the stupidity.
