Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang issued an announcement today (Monday), further easing restrictions on eateries in the capital, by allowing them to serve alcohol to customers up to 11pm from December 1st.

According to the same announcement, eateries which have passed the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration’s standard of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, or the “Thai Stop COVID Plus” standard of the Health Services Department, can also serve alcohol up to 11pm.

Other venues, such as pubs, bars and massage parlours, will remain closed until further notice.

People say Bangkok doesn't really represent the rest of the country or part of it?  It is the epic center of the breakouts and will continue to be in he future.  I guess the leaders who are all center there feel entitle that there are rules for them and then rules for others. It is the same everywhere.????

No more medical rationale to this decision than there was with the original restriction. Obviously business owners applying pressure as they watch their profit margins disappear down the plug hole.

Because the Governor of Bangkok can't make decisions or issue decrees regarding any other parts of Thailand?

They are trying to keep Pattaya desperate and failing to support the business here so they can come in and change the image. Sad we have less cases and they still won’t budge. Prayut obviously hates Pattaya and just waiting for its demise.

And the TAT Chrystal Ball!

Looking at that picture, I don't think it makes any difference whether they drink water or beer.

Now I wonder how long before the Chiang Mai governor gets the message.

The biggest outbreak clusters have been in Bangkok and surrounding provinces.

I have never understood how anyone in their right mind can make these decisions.

I dont subscribe to that, if they are targeting the nightlife they could do the same as Bangkok, allow restaurants to serve.

Thats really a thorn in the eye for Pattaya, we almost have no infections anymore and still no alcohol in the restaurants?? So now we can see who handles the power of decissions in a dictatorship, the rich and famous???? how long more we can handle this?????

No it is a very good question and needs a proper answer from those making the decisions.

Quote..announcement, eateries which have passed the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration’s standard of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports....

Yes we know, send them 20 photos of your establishment and wait for the government officials to peek though the door, then you may have an Amazing Thailand blah blah creditation, yawn

Why didn't they just say "normal" opening hours ...that's midnight yeah? So cut it an hour short and expect folk to be grateful. As for where I live nearby still zero booze anywhere anytime and yet our covid cases are miles behind Bangers ......All about the Benjamins once again.

There are provinces with single digit new cases that still can't serve alcohol in restaurants

I am afraid many will go bankrupt before they can re-open ????

Great news for Bangkok. Let's hope it happens in other provinces soon. Merry Christmas!

they call it planet Bangkok

Just a guess but with low vac rates still in the villages outside of the big cities, Pattaya opening pubs and clubs will bring back many workers into the hospitality industry from the villages which would ultimately cause a break out of infections. Make sense?
