A terrified passenger on a Rayong to Chonburi minivan called the police after the driver - obviously steaming drunk - drove in an out of traffic "like a snake slithering along the ground", reported Daily News.

When Chan, 57, saw the cones laid out at the intercept he tried to burst through but was stopped.

He was breath tested and had 310 mg of alcohol - nearly six times over the limit at least.

Chan reckoned he's only had one bottle of spirits and stopped drinking by 2 am. He didn't say how big it was.

He was immediately booked for DUI by Sattahip police and carried away.

Pictures showed that he could barely stand.

Indeed....

But did he risk his own life by not asking the driver to pull over so he could get out.

Its a good thing the police responded. Usually the police are ‘reactive’ rather than ‘proactive’ and do nothing until an incident occurs.

.........

I ‘got out’ of a handful of taxi’s in the past because I thought the driver was drunk, or the driver was a complete tool and refused to ’stop watching’ a video on his phone while driving.

And fine him for not wearing a mask too as clearly witnessed by the police in the pictures.

Drunk drivers should receive no leniency for their criminally dangerous behaviour.

Yup....

I recall contacting my sons (previous) school when they’d planned a trip to the butterfly farm.

I asked about transport (for 3-4 year olds) and the safety, seating etc.

The School outsourced transport to a well known bus company (Montri), they responded to my questions with their answers and sent me their driver policy.

I flagged on major point of contention.

'The drivers are breathalysed every morning and if they are over the legal limit to drive they are suspended for the day' !!!!

I was incredulous while the Thai staff at the front desk really didn’t see anything wrong with this response !!!

How often was he already arrested for drunk driving?

Or should we somehow believe that was the first time that he was over the legal limit after (probably) decades of driving?

Pre covid there were police checkpoints scattered around town on a nightly basis, I've been stopped at them many times.

he stopped by 2 am.   give or take an hour or two? or bottle or two.

You Naughty Naughty Boy !   500 Baht Fine and don't do it again or we'll suspend the License you haven't got !

Well, he was certainly dressed for the chauffeur job....????

In 2015 I traveled to Penang for a visa run in a minivan from Krabi, that was the last time ever in a van.

The drivers standard of reckless driving was mirrored by at least eighty percent of the vans I saw, tailgating, undertaking, sheer aggression all seemed to be standard procedure.

Now that the drivers have a chance to earn a living again you would think that they might be a bit more careful but no, nothing changes………. T I T sums it up.

On the new points system he still has an other 2 DUI before he

looses his licence (for how long ?)  driving with flip flops that

should be another  charge.

He was wearing a mask, pulled down probably because he'd just been breath-tested and that cannot be done through a mask!

And the weeping and wailing and gnashing of the teeth begins. 6 times over the limit? Jail him. Mail him now.

Great idea. What's wrong with it?

Is he retarded? No one could be that stupid to drive so friggy drunk.

Should have gones straight up again. He's not being breathalised in the pictures. Rules are rules - there's a pandemic on in case you hadn't noticed in your defence of the indefencible drunk driver.

In a taxi on the way to the airport and asked the driver to please slow down, the reply "you are going on a plane it will go faster than this". Guess how much tip he got.

Yes, definitely only worth 200 baht a day, not 300 baht a day.  So unprofessional.  ????

????Khun Chan was a real pissant who was very rarely stable..????

Ever met a real alcoholic.... many seem to function quite well while having alcohol in their systems? Regular folks don't make the best decisions when drunk either.....

A photo of a rare bird indeed!  I didn't realise Pattaya Police had three members in its force.
