Foreigners will definitely get vaccine in Thailand; urged to register from August

In the clearest statement yet about foreigners getting vaccinated in Thailand the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration spokesman has said that it is definitely going to happen.

Pongsakorn Kwanmuang said that foreigners should register for their Covid-19 jabs from August.

He said that it was true that Thais would go first but foreigners then the homeless or tramps would go next, reported Spring News

"All people in Thailand will be vaccinated irrespective of who they are," he affirmed yesterday in a press call with medical staff.

He was specifically asked about both foreigners and the homeless or "rayron" and he confirmed that the vaccination program was for everyone, period.

He was slightly more evasive about questions whether people could roll up for a vaccination without registering. He urged people to register as this was best for data gathering and monitoring.

He said that the registration process would be updated and streamlined shortly.

Our only hope is that Thais freak out, refuse the vaccine and the junta are left with millions of vaccines on the shelf.

But in a very strict, racist pecking order....with foreigners right at the end of the queue.

Well just as I thought and I would be surprised if it wasn't delayed even further

it's total discrimination and violates the ethics agreement between Thailand and Astrazeneca.

Time to lobby our Embassies and Astrazeneca I think.
Otherwise we are looking at the Jab by the end of year or later by which time Thailand will probably have reached heard immunity.

Just because you registered doesn't mean you will get it I expect they will check who qualifies first by Nationality, Age and Health.

Nationality could be the killer.

No use working ourselves into a snit. Everyone had to know this would be the policy. Nothing really changed from the time of the first announcement of "Thais first" by Anutin. Some of the later statements finessed it, but they all amounted to the same thing.  It's just the way things are, here. Too bad our embassies refuse to demand the same treatment Chinese nationals get. But our Western governments appear weak, ineffectual and indifferent.

Tramps and the Homeless should go before Thai's as they are more at risk but in Thailand it will go from Rich to Poor from Most Important to least Important. Why don't they get that??

So the next topic will be is how many foreigners will actually take up the Thai governments offer of free vaccination knowing it will be the Chinese Sinovac jabs that they will be getting. I myself and I'm sure many others will wait for the Phizer and Moderna jabs to be available no mater what the cost will be.

Pretty sure most countries vaccinated on an at risk basis, age/ poor health, here in hierarchical land they are doing it on a status basis, of course tomorrow is another day ????
