What that will do, hopefully, is motivate them to get their own population as vaccinated as possible in the coming months. You dont regulate yourself out of a virus. And they test positive whilst here and get jammed in the pokey for 14 days, at their expense !! 2 1 1

Popular Post pagallim Posted July 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted July 17, 2021 For me the saddest part of these schemes are that those Thais who have remained, not only in Pattaya but also in other tourist centric places, actually put their hope and faith in them. I'm not saying they actually believe them, more a case of those with vested interests at best misleading, at worse blatently lying to desperate people who will continue to accrue debt they can never repay, or sell what possessions they have left. Truly shamefull. 4

World statistics are HERE I was talking specifically about the Pattaya area. Vaccines have been thin on the ground here. Also, one dose of Sinovac is almost worthless. It causes all kinds of problems when people think they're good to go after just that. Edited July 17, 2021 by Jingthing 5

They just cut their pool of potential tourists by 90%. With no real benefits, given that letting vaccinated, tested tourists out into a city where 10-20% are already positive doesn't increase anyone's risks. And unlike Phuket which is an island, they can't even pretend to keep out locals who have neither been vaccinated, nor tested. Edited July 17, 2021 by impulse 2

Yup, a 5 year old or my soi cat can communicate better than the news report. There is Pattaya city centre and East Pattaya (probably another hundred places.) Likely many food traders moved over to darkside. Never seen it so busy in 8+ years. Certainly East Pattaya is thriving. Life goes on. Perhaps only doom and gloom for those collecting rent in city centre. Yes. Vaccines need to be available. Relax dude.

Wrong. Example, vaccinated tourist goes and gets a massage from a girl who is one of the 10-20% positive and catches covid. Vaccinated tourists then goes to a restaurant and gives covid to a waitress who didn't have covid. Waitress goes home to family and gives it to them. Two to three weeks later, the 10-20% is now 30% and rising rapidly. Of course, vaccinated tourist is fine, he doesn't get sick, nor die, but the massage girl and waitress, and their close contacts may not be so lucky. Vaccinated people can still catch covid and spread covid. This is not new information. It has been known for months. Populations of countries will have to be vaccinated to around 70% to be able to open up fully, and to do so safely. There's no getting around that. 2 2

Have tried numerous times to register for a vaccine and always been told "Thais only" Other option is to pay (!!) up front at private hospitals that have no idea which vaccine they will have or when, So insisting that tourists are double vax is pointless if most expat residents can't get near a vaccine registration list. 2 1
