I flew in using the Thai Pass yesterday. Took me 30 min. to get approved online and it was super smooth at the airport.

 

I honestly think they should make something like the Thai Pass requiring travel insurance from all tourists. Get rid of all the tourists getting in trouble here. No more Go Fund Me pages…

 

Thai Pass was the first ever Thai-made online registration that worked completely without hassle for me. I wouldn’t mind keeping it as I was so thrilled about something that worked.

So they're getting rid of the Thai Pass but still keeping some of their state-of-emergency measures then? Whilst I welcome the abolition of the Thai Pass, I still don't feel enticed enough to fly to Thailand yet. Not until they've completely abolished all their state-of-emergency measures will I consider it. That means not taking any COVID-19 tests before I travel, or showing booster certificates upon arrival.

 

After 2 years of avoiding this virus I finally succumbed to the omicron a few weeks ago. I'm sixty and I can honestly say I've had worse bouts of flu than this. Sure, I felt a little under the weather, tired and achy, but it really wasn't all that bad. After a few days I felt right as rain again.

 

Fingers crossed that Thailand drop all their state-of-emergency measures to deal with Covid-19 and get back to normality pretty soon.

Good news on the Thailand Pass elimination. I booked our August 2 flight to Thailand a week ago as soon as the US dropped their COVID test return requirement so it appears the stars have aligned for once

 

Seem that normalizing entrance requirements now will rebuild some confidence by tourists that a holiday to Thailand is no longer an unacceptable risk and maybe the country can realize a decent peak season this winter. That is if the tourists can afford the plane tickets

Eh??  You haven't needed to take a COVID-19 before travel for months now.  And you don't need to show a booster certificate on arrival at all, where do you get that idea from?

Thai Pass takes three minutes, it is all done online, and the check on arrival takes 10 seconds - you only need to show your TP approval which you receive within 30 minutes of applying online.  I came in today for the second time in a couple of weeks and it is extremely painless.

From 1st July you won't even need to spend three minutes doing TP, just turn up.

So not really sure what your problem is, I think you listen to the TVF scare mongers too much perhaps (the same scare mongers who have never actually done TP, obviously).

It is way more complex to enter Singapore or many other Asian countries in APAC.

Government House spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana before the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting on Friday still spoke of the need to be vigilant and for the public to continue wearing face masks where appropriate. After the meeting, it was clarified that Thailand Pass will be abolished from July 1st, along with the medical insurance requirements for foreign tourists and the need to wear a face mask in public except in crowded areas and places with poor ventilation.

 

Face mask requirement in public is abandoned except for crowded areas and places with poor ventilation such as public transport as Thailand drops all restrictions and bugbears which impede foreign visitor numbers. Consequently, a boom is expected in the coming six to seven months with some optimistic industry insiders saying Thailand can achieve up to 15 million visitors in 2022 as the good times, long thought of as lost to the past, come roaring back to life.

 

Thailand has announced long-anticipated measures that will allow the kingdom’s foreign tourism and nightlife industry to finally return to normal after July 1st when a key committee on Friday decided to do away with the Thailand Pass application, medical insurance requirements and nearly all public face mask-wearing from July 1st next.

 

It is expected that the move will herald a boom in foreign tourist arrivals in the second half of the year as the country’s critical income-generating foreign tourism industry engine gathers steam.

Thailand Pass scrapped, no face masks from July 1

Foreign tourists visiting Thailand will no longer be required to use the Thailand Pass online registration from July 1.

 

On Friday (Jun 17), Thailand’s COVID-19 taskforce confirmed the further easing of restrictions, removing some of the country’s last remaining curbs put in place to limit the spread of the virus.

 

The US$10,000 health insurance requirement for foreign visitors will also end on July 1, the CCSA announced.

 

In addition to the cancellation of Thailand Pass, the rules regarding mask wearing will also be eased from July 1.

Thai gov to remove mask mandates for outdoors, scrap Thailand Pass in July

According to the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Friday, Thailand Pass will be cancelled, face masks will be “recommended” for closed and crowded areas, and entertainment venues will be able to operate normally starting on July 1.

Entry rules

 

Foreigners will no longer be required to register with the Thailand Pass (TP) system or acquire a Certificate of Entry (CoE) before entering Thailand.

 

The minimum health insurance coverage of 10,000 USD for foreigners will also be lifted.

 

However, visitors will still have to provide proof of Covid vaccinations or test results if asked via random inspection on arrival or exit.

‘Thailand Pass’ registration scheme to be lifted from 1 July 2022

At the point of entry into Thailand, travellers will only need to show proof of either a certificate of vaccination or a negative RT-PCR or professional ATK test result within 72 hours of travel.

Bangkok – Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today approved the removal of the Thailand Pass registration scheme and an US$10,000 health insurance requirement for foreign visitors, effective 1 July, 2022. Both requirements were initially removed for Thai nationals from 1 June, 2022.

 

From 1 July, 2022, foreign nationals are only required to show proof of either a certificate of vaccination or a negative RT-PCR or professional ATK test result within 72 hours of travel. These can be in a print or digital format. Random checks will be made on arrivals at Thailand’s international airports or land border checkpoints (in 22 provinces). Unvaccinated/not fully vaccinated travellers who are random checked and who are unable to show proof of a pre-arrival negative test will be required to undergo a professional ATK test at the point of entry.

 

Meanwhile, the CCSA also approved the designation of Bangkok and 76 provinces as the Surveillance or green zone, thus allowing resumption of new normal businesses and activities nationwide. And while maintaining the safety and health measures under the universal prevention, the Royal Thai Government is preparing to announce a new set of guidelines as the nation is stepping into post-pandemic.

Suppose the powers think that now thailand will experience millions of tourists ,i have my doubts with recession looming in most countries cost of living sky high and from what i can see the cost of visiting thailand doubling in the last two years.The doubling costs of visiting Thailand are my experience over costing in the last week others may be different.

I'll believe it when I see it. They still have close to 2 weeks to flip flop on it. If they actually do get rid of the thailand pass system and the unneccessary additional covid insurance, I'll seriouslyconsider returning to Thailand for the winter like I did in pre-covid times. I certainly missed the golf, the hot weather and the condo pool the previous 2 winters.
