Anti-government Thai Mai Thon (Impatient Thais) protesters rallied in the resort town of Pattaya this afternoon (Saturday), to repeat demands for the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.

The protesters, most of them riding motorcycles with some driving cars, converged in front of King Taksin the Great’s shrine on the beach road, near Pattaya Soi 6, at about 2pm. During the protest, they performed a cursing ritual by smashing earthenware pots, featuring the portrait of the prime minister, and then stomping on fragments, after which they moved along the beach road to South Pattaya and several other roads in the city.

Police, led by Pol Col Thanavuth Jongjira, deputy superintendent of Chon Buri provincial police, were dispatched to the protest site to maintain order and manage traffic flow.

I'm no supporter of the government - but if the Czar did resign, who would replace him ... and could they do any better?

Or if an election were called, doesn't the constitution and senate rules make it most likely the generals would keep power anyway?

Careful what you wish for. If Prayut goes Anuntin might become PM.

Agree. What is really needed is a fair election but that is even less likely to happen than Prayuth dtepping down.

They rigged it in that way, yes. And if someone challenges them, they create a case to block him in one way or another. Sad story but people were watching and doing nothing...

On the other hand I know quite a few locals who wish big T.S. would come back to power.

You don’t think it’s up to Prayut whether he stays or goes, do you?

He only need him to support his majority , i think even he wish him gone with that his " intelligence " (condition he could hold a easy majority in parliament.)

What do you think of Prayut's current performance? Do you thing he, as the COVID-19 Czar, has discharged his duty to the public in an exemplary manner, in terms of the handling of the COVID-19 crisis, to include the nation's economy and health?

Is it that you see him as the best of a bad lot or do you think all his decisions have been wise is this regard? What are your views on the decision to allow people to travel widely for Songkran?

My facebook is today full of posts from Thai's calling Prayut a narcissist !

He is in charge for a reason!  picked and put there before the man passes and it worked as noted if replaced who will take his place everyone in place now is part of the swamp and those who want him out have their own agenda because they aren't getting their share. The youth movement more educated don't truly have a leader willing to take the pain nor does the followers then you need to have a plan not just removing him the entire system has to be change that means pretty much getting rid of every leader in the country now leadership is like a musical chair and that isn't going to work since every leadership role is family and I just don't see the family leaders are going to turn on each other.  The boat needs to be rocked and I don't see it happening I was told once in an conversation by a government worker these old dudes are willing to die and kill anyone who threatens their nest egg.

Yawn.

Plenty of tear gas and water cannons today in the dark red zone of Bangkok ????

I'm sure these are the same people that voted for him and now want him out. Cant have your cake and eat it to

He never stood for election. His appointment as PM is largely due to the votes of the senators (also unelected) whom he installed prior to the General Election.

Brilliant poster ... I think they should be available for free at every 7/11 nationwide so we can display them and perhaps similar bike and car stickers!!

Whoever replaced Prayuth couldn't do any worse.

IMHO a lot would depend on who wins the election despite the governments manipulation of the result, and if another military coup were to take place  before or after an election.

If it were blatantly rigged like the last one there could well be a lot more people on the streets

Very few Thai Visa members now support Prayuth, Anutin and the government at all. Not that we make any difference but the Thai people that I know well enough, have had enough of the current mob and will vote for anybody else.

Unlike ancient Rome there is no bread (vaccine) and they are fed up with the circus.

Remember millions of Thais lost their jobs through this government, and they all have long memories and a vote.
