How else is a person to cool down after a night of debauchery and shenanigans, "bangin everything that moves takes it out of you" as I was told once.

 

Also, we're here for not even an eye blink compared to some other flora and fauna on earth. There are stupid tortoises that are already older than us and will still be eating lettuce long after we're gone, jelly fish too. Trees live longer, some fish and clams too.  Humans are not even may fly's when it's put into perspective.  Enjoy our "fire-spark in the night" lifetime (some don't even get that), try not to suck too much and be helpful when and where you can.

 

In 50 years, for most of us, no one will care or remember about the angst and white-fire, smite them down, righteousness we felt one day. Someone drinking a beer when the surface area of the planet where you're walking spins into the sunlight just isn't that important.

I still can’t figure out why people retire to Pattaya. It’s just a bunch of grubby bars and people sitting around drinking.

 

What are people getting out of their stay here?

 

All I can see benefit-wise is women and getting loaded, but that would get so expensive I can’t see anyone doing it long term, especially if they had a decent condo and were not living in a shoebox room.

Praise the lord, one thing more boring than a drunk is an ex drunk telling all how long it is since he had a drink! They always seem to exagerate how much they were drinking and how happier they are since they quit.

This is a very sad and unfortunate comment. People should be able to live their lives the way they want without people like you taking exception to how they live them. Many of these men may be veterans who gave you the freedom you are enjoying today. Some drink due to emotional issues. Some drink to forget the past. Some just like the taste of beer. Regardless, it's THEIR life and they can live it the way THEY want and not the way YOU want. OK?

Compare it perhaps to what retirement would entail in say a UK northern town. 

It's cheaper, for housing transport, food, entertainment...taxes.

Despite what you say, a bit of female company, (with no strings if that is what you want) is a cheap option, and pleasurable.

It's safer crime wise.

There is large number of like minded people who usually speak your language.

One can venture away from the bars......I have not been in one for some months.

Do you believe I could live in a pool villa in the UK for anything but many multiples of the cost?

And often, the women back there are borderline repugnant, fat, attitude and take no pride in their appearance. 

Pattaya has beaches, lakes, entertainment, western shops and supplies, and a couple of highways to come and go.
