City Life Chiang Mai reported that special batches of Covid-19 vaccinations are being sourced for foreign residents of Chiang Mai.

It is hoped that all foreigners residing in the province will be vaccinated as early as June.

And it will be free.

The site said that you could email [email protected].

Or apply via Line at 0960138522 (also the number of an information hotline).

Alternatively register at Mor Phrom or a local hospital.

You'll need a photocopy of your passport page, proof of residential address and an email address.

The media said that the Chiang Mai Provincial Office is making a special bulk order.

When it arrives you will be instructed to go to a vaccination center at a hospital.

Further information from 053 211048 - 50.

Meanwhile Bangkok Business News reported that following data collection local health authorities would be door knocking in the next week to find out know needs what when it comes to vaccinations.

So far about 50,000 people in the aged/seven vulnerable conditions group of nearly 612,000 people have been jabbed.

It is hoped that 43 centers can be used to administer 13,000 jabs daily initially though this is hoped to be expanded.

The province has a population of about 1.2 million people and is one of Thailand foremost tourism areas.

Nice idea, believe it when its happened. So much changes so fast here its just all getting very silly.   It would be nice if this was indeed rolled out across ALL provinces. Time will tell.

Excellent news if it turns out to be correct. Lets hope that the same thing happens across the country, though I am a little skeptical that it will be so easy.

My email has already been sent!

Fingers crossed it is not another ride...

Best be quick.....the offer of "walk in" vaccination centers announced yesterday has already been withdrawn this morning.

A bulk order of which vax?

So they're gonna Jab Foreigners before Thai's?
I don't believe that although I wish it was the case lets bookmark this page and come back to it in June.
Will they even have enough vaccines by June I heard it will be July??

I think it's a bit suspicious that they are using hotmail.com instead of a government email address.

Is this fake news?

It's either Sinovac or Astrazeneca. These are the only two approved so far.

It seems that Thai people aren't keen on being vaccinated.

That was in the initial stage when clinical data wasn't available yet.

Now Sinovac is also approved for 60 and above.

Nightnurse. It is a "special" vaccination for Covid, because unlike the others there is no record of it working, that's what makes it special. But it does help with your sleep.

I was skeptical about this from the start.  I emailed the US Consulate in Chiang Mai and asked if they could verify if this was indeed a project by the Provincial Government?  This is the reply I got:

Thank you for your email. Yes, we are aware that this information has been shared on multiple facebook groups. We have been in communication with the Chiang Mai Provincial COVID Center, and I can confirm that is their email address and LINE ID. Once we can confirm more details we plan to share information with the general U.S. citizen community. Please check the COVID-19 page on our website (COVID-19 Information | U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Thailand (usembassy.gov)) for updates and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program(STEP) to receive email alerts from the Consulate.

Best regards,

Sadly this announcement came out this morning from the COVID International Community Support Chiang Mai's Facebook group after way more foreigners than expected sent emails expressing interest:

UPDATE COVID-19 VACCINATION FOREIGN NATIONALS CHIANG MAI 14/05/21
REGISTRATION ON HOLD: DO NOT SEND IN NEW REGISTRATIONS AT THIS TIME
The COVID Vaccination Registration Dept. of Chiang Mai Provincial Health Office thanks all those who have contacted them and shown interest in receiving COVID-19 vaccinations. They confirm that the Thai government will be providing vaccination for foreign nationals living in Thailand. However their communications systems have been completely overwhelmed by your kind responses; they did not expect so many would be interested. They therefore kindly request that those interested hold off contacting them for the time being until they can set up a larger team or identify a third party to set up a professional data system suited to foreign nationals. Their present objective is to conduct a pre-registration of foreign nationals in order to get an idea of how many are interested and where they are living in the province; this data will then be used to order correct amount of vaccines and plan logistics. Updates will be sent out when the Vaccination Dept. is ready to start receiving your expressions of interest again; we expect this to be soon. Many thanks

I agree,

But feel it's just another empty Thai government promise issued in an attempt to placate the proletariat.

Reading Nancy's post it appears to have already failed.

You get plans in place then you communicate about them...

you don’t communicate about plans first without them being in place and then you send a message that the communication system was overwhelmed with response and now not taking requests anymore

the whole thing has become a joke...and we expect you to  administer a quality product in a timely fashion with competent staff?

And the days and months roll by....

I imagine that (for me) "proof of residential address" would be a Residence-Certificate, from the Immigration Dept.

(My name does not appear on any of the Bills for my house.)

I wonder how many means 'overwhelming'?

Did they mention whether we are allowed to choose the vaccine or not?

Overwhelmed just after a few hours. How many foreigners actually live in CM?

I think it depends on what region you're in.. each seem to have a different take on things depending on population and their supplies.

Clearly this will require a committee....

Free jabs with what, the bottom two vaccines? I would rather pay for any of the top three vaccines. You know the ones that will save our butts.

will those expata who live in Thailand whom doesn't want to be vaccinated be forced by the 1984 totalitarian state called Thailand?

As mentioned on another closed thread, if it walks like a duck etc!

If the PM was excluded from sinovac being over 59.

So should be everyone else.
