Absolutely no mention of foreigners as Pfizer vaccine rollout begins

Daily News carried a story about booster doses (third doses) for medical frontliners and the rollout of the Pfizer vaccine that has been donated by the US.

But there was absolutely no mention of foreign residents in Thailand in their story.

They quoted the CCSA spokeswoman Dr Apisamai Srirangsan who was speaking at Government House yesterday as saying that in the latest round 900 Astra Zeneca third doses had been administered making this 182,082 since February 28th.

As far as Pfizer goes they have only jabbed 39,483 doses with 23,481 of those on Sunday.

In the first phase of Pfizer jabs 50-60% of frontline medical staff who need it will get jabbed.

The efficacy will be noted before the rollout of Pfizer is stepped up. She said that there is plenty more to come in both Bangkok and the provinces.

Though she said because of the temperature storage needs of this vaccine it could only be done at certain hospitals so would not be available everywhere.

Students going abroad would be next in line.

Last week it was stated that part of the 1.5 million donation from the States - reported as part of 150,000 doses - would go to needy foreigners.

No mention of this was made in the Daily News story.

Interesting to see if the Expatvac in the provinces wil provide Pfizer , if anything, although have yet to see confirmation of appointments from anyone yet?

Simply mentioning some groups to whom the vaccines have gone and will go, does not allow us to conclude that they will therefore not go to any other groups.

There are reports on Aseannow of foreigners receiving Pfizer shots as of now.

I made an appt a while ago before Pfizer was a choice.  They will not let me change from my AZ to Pfizer despite being earlier in line.

Can I ask, how these foreigners know that this vaccine was available at this hospital ,they must have pre-registered ,are they all Bangkok people .Thanks

The lady is a little behind the times.  The US FDA has ammounced that the Pfizer vaccine can be kept at normal reefer temps after being thawed out and has a 30 day shelf life at that temp.

Definitely trying to calm public fears I think.

No mention that it was donated also while praising the government for it.

Impossible with the internet though.  Everyone can see the foibles of this corrupt and inept government trudging along in a fog of unaccountability.

Good to know.

"Before mixing Pfeizer, the vaccine may be stored in the refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C (36°F and 46°F) for up to 1 month (31 days)."

Our clinics refrigerator hasn't worked for years until I donated one.  Now its full of the clinics employees lunches.

30 day shelf life isn't long enough to ensure they won't expire before everyone who got the first, will get their second if they thaw them out now since it's 4 weeks between doses. Very likely that Thailand will not be receiving any more Pfizer vaccine this year now that countries are starting to do 3rd shot boosters.

Complete Ignorance on the part of the useless US Embassy for believing anything Thai officials told them

Many Pfizer jabs will end up down south to help start another sandbox

Seems a lot of 'foreigners' here might be expecting to be mentioned by name and address for each vac' programme. ????.

Here a story you'll get a chuckle out of: a 60 yo UK mate of mine put his name for AZ vaccination at a similar to a similar program thailandintervac.com/public.php only to be told that they ran out of AZ and only have Pfizer left, OK said me friend i'll take the Pfizer than, NO, said the voice on the other side of the phone, you booked for AZ and you can't change now and you can't re book for Pfizer either now, so i ask you, who is running this cockamamie operations i'd like to know...

Agreed!!! Never ever should anyone take these people for their word let alone a signed contract. If you are one of the defenders of Thailand and want to believe in what these people say and/or invest your money here you are free to do so. You are also free to keep your opinions to yourself about my personal feelings and better judgement!!!

My God, I am Thai and not able to get an appointment, while moaning foreigners are getting jabbed, yet continually complain about everything.

Actually toilet paper is of great value, as we've witnessed at the beginning of the pandemic ????

Some time after registration opened, Pfizer was listed as an option but only to later (new) registrees - earlier registrees have to keep to their original allotted vaccine type. MedPark do not specify 'Bangkok people' and they probably have Pfizer because they have newer, larger, more capable cold storage facilities. I wish I had registered later now but these cookies seem to crumble in a preset way.

The first batch of Pfizer consisted of approximately 322k doses.  The full 1.5 million will be arriving over several weeks time to enable second jabs.
