According to investigative teams, this appeared to be highly unusual for someone on a police officer’s salary to have.

I  see  they  have the crack  team  on the job then.

Shock horror! Who would've expected this in Thailand????

Not particularly unusual for a high ranking Copper in Thailand; especially ones involved in the drugs business !

Well, he seems to have more than Thailand's police chief, which assets have been described last week. Another brilliant investor! The Thai police force is definitely full of surprises. I'll go to my closest police station tomorrow asking them what they think is the current best investment...

Not the brightest copper around. All those expensive motors. Big gaff. Rich hi so wife,  but didn't realise that he had cctv in a bloody police station.

disgraceful, only 13? slacker. should be moved to an inactive desk job immediately

The police farce has appeared to be beyond repair for as long as I can remember. Some things just never change, how would you even fix this if you wanted to?

<deleted>, Cut him some slack, y'all !

He was just a hard working honest thai policeman just graduated from the school of corruption,

trying to take care of himself, like the rest of RTP

PS I know sarcastic is not a thai thang but maybe it's an ASEAN...

Video surfaces about Aug. 22, guy dies Aug. 5/6. Nothing is done until the video surfaces. It seems the big guys in Bangkok were still protecting the villains, until the video became public.

How come the PM doesn't cleanup the RTP, especially the boys in Bangkok, and all who have massive assets far exceeding what they couldn't possibly amass on a Policeman's
salary?

In the U.S. I had a large garage added on to my house.  3 rooms above but never fully finished out, just storage space.  It took several years but I got a call from the county tax assessors.  They could see from aerial/SAT views that it was nice and even had high-priced double pane windows.  They came knocking on the door.  I explained that I did things well, but the rooms were unfinished.  No sheet rock, no heat/aircon.  Attic space.  Ended up paying a bit more real estate tax for some "covered porch" square footage.

Perhaps Thailand could do a little aerial spying and figure who owns these monster homes.

It takes real leadership to do such things. As likely here as getting the Taliban to shave and take a bath.

Obviously they couldn't find him using a BMW smart car - I wonder if he was on "Big Jokes" list .....................LOL

Impunity is right. This from the Thai Enquirer pretty much highlights just that.

He's gone, get over it as you have done with Boss, Thaksin, Yinluck etc.

Lets hope this stir up a lot of <deleted>.

Another nail in the coffin for the general.

In any developed country, police colonels are middle income people with a middle sized house/standard car ect.

Hundreds of kilo (if not tons) of drugs have ended on the streets because of him, so the death penalty seems suitable when they catch him.

Lets hope this stir up a lot of <deleted>.

Well it is being reported on the BBC News website, so it's too late for the powers that be to lock the stable door.

Another example of corruption from top to bottom.

this property and those cars can be seen on googlemaps and even on satelite images, but because it was clean money nobody ever questioned how an officer on max 80k per month can have this house and that many cars.

Actually, there were all together 29 cars at his garage.

I would think he has many houses and many more cars. Land papers. Bank accounts. Secret safes and walk-in vaults.

In his name.

In name of his parents, siblings, cousins, girlfriends.

But not as much, as his superior in chain of command

29 cars!  Almost one for every day of the month.

He must have looked very low key arriving at work in that Bentley Continental GT.

I bet that police station car park must have looked like Man United's every morning. ????

How come his nickname has changed from "Ferrari Joe" and has now become  “Chief Joe”?

Is this to make him seem a little bit less of a character and more official?

Surprised nobody ever went to his house before...????????????????????

I bet he ends up in a cage.   This is a different type from Red Bull Ferrari boy.   IMO local asset heavy with little or no offshore plan B/C to speak of.   Best case is he'll cancer himself to death like the cop that downed that Cathay Pacific flight in the 70s.

These lads are razor sharp. Nothing will get past them except for the FN fugitive.

Not his car's. They belong to his gardener.

'One has to wonder at this point what is the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) doing?'

They have the contract to valet and service the cars.

But never questioned before the murder.... this goes much deeper than most think, and higher up the ladder.

You read things like this and no matter how long you have lived here or think you understand Thailand and Thainess, you are left with a few thoughts:

a) its really much worse than you could have ever have imagined.

b) corruption is so ingrained there will never be an iotas reduction never mind an end to it.

c) deep down how does the Thai mind accept this kind of thing (and they do just think it is their "normal")

d) If I ever got in trouble here what are my chances of losing everything, or worse?
