Try somewhere else where the pricing is fair and equitable. Very simple. Don't forget to let them know why you have decided to go elsewhere. Provided of course there actually is an "elsewhere" to be found....

To be fair, I have emailed plenty of SHA plus+ in Buriram but this is the first I have had a reply from, so will wait and see.

I really think that now even Australia is opening up that the Thai's may drop this nonsense.  ????????

I doubt that would change anything. It has been ingrained in Thai culture that charging more to foreigners since they are rich is just and accepted. They see nothing wrong in that as verified by a court order recently where Court agreed it to be constitutional. So in their eyes, they are following the law.

I completed Quarantine twice in 2021 and will do it again in 2022.  For ASQ Hotel Packages there have always been two prices: one for Foreigners and of course a lesser amount for Thai Nationals.  It's like Death, Taxes and Dual Pricing: Things that are 100% certain in life.

Yes, it's a part of Thai culture.  Love it or leave it.

In their minds most if not all of us are guests here and thus, should be subject to higher rates.

It is what it is and will never change.

The duel pricing in effect is like a unspoken hidden tax for the "pleasure" of living/staying/visiting Thailand, its kind of a way to show us all who's boss here...

In my home country of Merica, they have dual pricing for foreigners wanting to use our colleges & universities, and it's a lot more than 1,000b.

Same with out of state students. Many state parks do the same. Not  really a foreigners tax.

I wonder if the learned judge who ruled in favour of dual pricing would find these hypothetical numbers just as favourable:

Sydney Opera House

Entry is $42 for adults and $22 for children with $32 concession and family pricing available too

Foreigners: $84 for adults and $44 for children. No concessions whatsoever.

Louvre

Tarif sur place: 15€

Étranger/-ère: 30€

Lunch:

Pad Ped Kati
$16.90 foreigners: $33.80 + tip
Stir-fried of your choice with red curry paste, coconut milk, bamboo shoot, and runner beans.

Pad Nam Mun Hoi
$14.90 foreigners: $29.80 + tip

Stir-fried selection with oyster sauce, brocoli, carrot, onion, and mushrooms.

Pad Num Prik Phow
$19.90 foreigners: $39.80 + tip

Stir-fried squid with chilli jam, carrot, snow peas, and mushrooms.

Not dual pricing!  Dirty farang price since we got it we should pay socialistic! Then put in a law so you can't speak the truth!

They also have "dual pricing" for out of state US students attending public universities that are not in their own state.

I am not sure if this was your point or not but the big difference is dual pricing as I have seen it in the States is based on whether or not you are paying taxes to the government that is subsidizing the service.  I.e. out of state tuition is for people that haven't paid to support the University.  This is why paying more at national parks might make sense but a hotel and private hospital aren't receiving government money (?).  But in the States if you are a resident even if you are a not citizen you are not paying the higher rate.

Before anyone says it, I know for universities moving to a state for the purpose of attending school doesn't qualify you for in state tuition.. But that is a sort of a special case.  If you moved for other reasons then you are a resident for tuition purposes after the time period set in law.

Quite possibly at private hospitals, a penalty of being elitist.

I am registered at 5 Thai government hospitals and there is no dual pricing at any. My hypertension tablets are half the price at the hospital pharmacy compared to any pharmacy on the street.

Every 3 months I see the dermatologist and the cardiologist, both consultations cost 100 baht, how ugly is that.

...

Yes, I just wonder why Thai's never look at what they are actually saying?  Why is it that Thai's are so poor compared to Farang? What is it about Thai's that their lot in life never improves economically? Being the poor of the world is what they have institutionalized with that dual pricing logic.

You take up more space in the pool, and use up more oxygen at the fitness center when exercising.

If I were you, I'd thank them, but tell them that you decided to book with another hotel, which only charges 3,545 baht for Thais and 3,545 baht for foreigners. Then wait what happens... ????
